Is one any better? I see that Nokia's are mostly internal
Looking for a basic phone and have a choice of a Nokia 3120 or Motorola V180 or Ericsson Z500a

The V180 and Z500a have external antenna's.

Also looked at Verizon and most of their phone have external antenna's

I don't think internal/external makes much difference.
Nokia's with their internal antennas are known to be great as far as RF performance goes.

I would say the 3120 and Z500 are pretty close with the V180 being last.

yeah i know one of our best RF phones for verizon is the nokia 6015i. Albeit the free phone that noone likes cause it doesn't 'look nice'.

As you can tell I'm a Nokia fan, but if the OP wants EDGE, mp3 tones, larger screen, the Z500a is it and it's a good phone.
