Ok, so I just bought an unlocked Sidekick II off ebay the other day. I was planning on using it with Cingular but when i stuck my Cingular Sim card in nothing happened. It just says it's searching for service. I looked at the settings though and the phone did recognize my number. I'm new to this phone and really don't know much about it. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get this phone going.
Thanks,
Trey

What I'm saying is that it's not even letting me make phone calls on it. I'm pretty sure the phone is unlocked though because it did not ask me to put in a code when I inserted my sim card. And another thing, i asked t-mobile if i would be able to access the internet using Cingular and this is what they said.
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.
At this time, your Sidekick II device should allow you to still access internet
applications on your device, as long as that carrier also has GSM-Based internet
accessibility. Note that you may have an issue where some roaming partners to
not have data accessibility, so you MAY not have access to use the internet on
some carriers, however most roaming partners do have networks that are
data-compatibile, and this should not be a problem. We can never garantee that
you may have data service access on some roaming carrers, however most should
not be a problem for you to access.
If you have any further comments, questions, or concerns feel free to contact us
at anytime.

1. Your Sidekick, if truly unlocked, with Cingular will:
a. make calls
b. send texts
2. Even "IF" it's unlocked, you won't be able to:
a. surf
b. email
c. AIM
d. Yahoo IM
e. etc
f. Take advantage of the real power of the device
Without a T-Mobile Sidekick data plan.
Period.
"IF" it's truly unlocked, you might try this:
1. From Main Menu screen, press Menu button (Upper left)
2. Choose Settings: Network
3. In the Network Selection area, press "Scan and Select Manually"
4. After it is finished scanning, select Cingular (or ATT after that), and press Enter.
See if it syncs up after that.
Luck.

I had problems with my sim card when I first got my SK2 because I was not pushing it in fare enough, you have to push it in untill the little clip holds it in.
