v635 Housing Help

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I already banged up the housing on my v635 and I saw on eBay a complete housing + T6 tool. I already took my phone apart completely to see how easy it would be to change the whole housing and ran into a problem. Does anyone know how to remove the inner plastic gray housing that holds the keypad from the electronic innards? A flat cable runs though it connecting the keypad and LCD screen on the top flip. Is there a safe method to disconnect and reconnect that cable? Or how would I go about changing it?

Also I was thinking about maybe painting the entire casing, but I am worried about wear on the paint and it rubbing off. How are your custom paint job fairing? (If you have them)

Thanks.

I've disassembled my entire phone after I thought I broke it.

The keypad slides right the hell out once you _fully_ disassemble the phone. I recall being able to do so without disconnecting the cable. Then again I'm talking about the overlay.

Look at how the cable is connected, you'll probably be able to just pop it out and back in again. IIRC the most annoying part of disassembly was the spring loaded corner that keeps the phone closed.
