Cingular messed up my Razr!

I have an unlocked black Razr which I bought last month and it had been working perfect until I ran into some problems with my ATT account. Turns out that my account had been migrated to Cingular and so my old ATT SIM card died. I would have to purchase a new 64 bit Cingular SIM card. So I bought one this morning and I inserted it into my Razr and called customer service to activate it. Everything was done smoothly until I noticed that I was barely getting 2 bars WHEREVER I go. Every once in a while I would suddenly get 5 bars and that triangle sign at the top of the phone. I'm guessing Cingular locked m phone back up which would cause the bad receptions and the constant dropping of phone calls. I called them today and demanded that they give me the unlock code for my phone and they said they would reach me back in 24 hours. If they refuse what are my alternatives? Thanks alot

Your phone is not locked. With the new cingular sim, it prefers a different network than your old blue sim. Just call CS and tll them to make your SIM prefer the blue network.

i did that my phone prefer the blue network and now i see less singal in places i used to get 5 bars which i am mad i did that to it i wish there was a way i could tell them to go back to the old way even though i still did not get singal at my house at least it worked every where else

a SIM card swap cannot lock your phone, for the record.

how did you get migrated without knowing it?

That's kinda what I was wonderin...As much as Cingular wants to be rid of al things blue and get everyone on orange they don't just randomly migrate you.

Perhaps the account holder migrated it over, which would cause the phone to stop working and require the new SIM. But that's about the only way I see it happening.

I found out with the unbranded razrs that in order to have the signal strength you would normally have with a "Cingular" branded phone you have to update the firmware to cingular's. This is due to the integration of ATT and Cingular and cingular using what we know as ENS--without the ENS function in the software, your phone will get less reception--this is what happened with me--I first had a cingular branded silver razr and awesome reception then got a black unbranded version with very little reception--I flashed my phone to cingular's software (the latest one found on motomodders) and my reception is back to what the silver version had--I can't explain it any other way

God loves motomodders.....Is the Networks settings on Automatic or Manual.. if Manual is it set to At&T...have it search for available Networks and set to Automatic. Depending on where you are.. this might help. My Moto V600 clearly moves from At& T(Lorton VA) to Cingular(Alexandria VA) and to Cingular Extended(Springfield VA). I am on a Nation Plan and I am on Orange in the Wash Baltimore area. Picks up perfectly. No roaming charges. Hope this helps.
