A couple weeks ago I decided to switch to Cingular from Verizon. I did this because I had previously been on a family plan back in my hometown but have decided it's time to get a number with the area code I actually live in. Cingular has been advertising like crazy in my town so I decided to give them a shot. I got the S710a and am really happy with the phone. The only problem is I've noticed that I do not get as good of reception as I did with Verizon (VX7000 phone). I am not sure whether this is because of my choice of phone or if it is because Cingular simply doesn't have as good of reception in my area (Toledo Ohio). I'm coming up on the end of my trial period and am trying to decide what to do. I would like to stay with Cingular, but cannot with this current reception. Do you think I would have more luck if I got a different phone, or do you think it's more likely that Cingular itself is to blame? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well I don't live anywhere near Ohio so I can't speak about the relative strengths of Verizon's and Cingular's network, but if you're not satisfied with your phone, by all means try a different one!

Before switching back to Verizon, give the Nokia 6230 a try. IMHO, it has the best reception of any Cingular phone. The Nokia 6010, Moto RAZR, Moto V551, and Moto V635 are also good choices for reception.

Once you try something else, then you can be sure if Cingular is right for you or not.
