Delete Registration on an SKI?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I bought a used SK I color off of ebay. I got a brand new activated sim card for TMo prepaid that I called up CS and had the sim card changed to a SideKick to Go plan successfully. When I pop the sim card in, the sidekick tells me it sees a new sim and wants me to register. When I attempt to register, it tells me the device is already registered. I looked in the settings, and the SK still has the username of the previous user still embedded.

How can I clear a previous registration from the SK? I tried a master reset by holding the power button and pushing the reset button to no avail

Thanks!

call customer service and they'll help you out. I had that same problem and they fixed it in about 10 min. call from another phone also becuase you need to take the simcard out of your sidekick

Called CS, and the guy told me the original owner would need to call Tmo to have the IMEI removed from their account, due to the sidekick thefts

I think im going to try one more time.

yea try again just tell them you bought it off ebay. and say that you ant to turn the sidekick into prepaid and they'll convert it for you and walk you through the steps to reregister it. I talked to 3 different ppl before someone actually just did it for me

The post from hiptop.com is good info on how to delete your data, the problem is that the IMEI of the phone is tied to the backend data service still. If you *switch* sidekicks this is a non-issue as moving your simcard to an "unregistered" device will delete the old registration. The person you bought the device from probably didn't keep their data service, so it's still tied to the old account. Only customer care can fix this, and it's not a serious issue - it's a quick, quick, fix.

I just wanted to thank both of you!

I called back several times. Each time, they switched me to their "IT" department. the first 3 people sounded foreign (does TMobile outsource?)
The fourth guy was on the money. He spoke clearly, said he knew exactly what the issue was, and had me going in less than 5 minutes!

Thanks again guys! I really appreciate the help!
