I am looking into possibly getting one of these, it is a 2001 and I know nothing about them, I have always owned Chevys - No comments please - and any insight to this car would help

I heard the mid 90s versions had mechanical problems before...and my neighbour has one rotting away on his driveway right now lol. They look decent styling wise...engine numbers nothing to get excited about though.

We used to own one from early 90's. Served well for two years. Automatic gearbox died on 240K

I don't like the looking for the 626...I would take a 2001 Accord or get a newer Mazda 6.
I owned a MX-6 which share many identical parts with the old 626.
They are not the most reliable car in the world, but I guess it is still better than some used Doemstic.

Here's the Canadian Driver used car review on it which could be helpful

lot of mechanical problems go with the Mazda Protege better styling and almostno major issues.

well, thanks for all the insight, the woman backed out, so it is not going to happen anyways
It was a 2001 with 37k miles on it, like brand new all options - leather, sunroof, cd and cassette - everything. Oh well,
Thanks again for all the feedback.
