Does anyone know if this version will have a camera?

Posted by: SanyoFan75

i would say no it won't ! But you never know with the manufactures of cellular handsets. My guess is........ it will be a rugged version of the RL-4920. Maybe Sanyo might upgrade it to the MM series. Instead of a camera i would like to see EVDO on the Sanyo 4930, probably won't happen though.

That is exactly what is it. It would have been nice for them to put a camera and even MM on it to compete with the likes of the new Nextel candybar rugged with camera. That was my orignal speculation but I guess they opted not. Maybe in the future.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone MM-7400/US/1.0) NetFront/3.1 MMP/2.0)

I would assume it wont have a cam or mm because of the RL prefix

I was hoping it wouldnt be smaller! I loved the size of the 4900 and thought the 7200 was a little bit on the big side. It would be great if the 4930 (Rubber Grips included) was the same size as the 4900.

Posted by: DevalB

i believe its a lil larger then the 4920 due to the rubber grips

Any pics or a release date?

Posted by: DevalB

no pix yet...but it should be out next month I believe

I bet this phone may turn out to be a grate hit since Sprint does not have that many Bar Phone to choose from.. Just ad a Camera to it and it will be great..

Sanyo 4930 should be similar in size to the 6000 series but with rubber grips.

If you mean "should be" as in would like it to be ok,but if you mean should be as in it probably will be you're dead wrong. The 6000 series is 2"w x5"l x .5" thick. The 4930 is a 4920 with a rubber housing, similar to the old 7200/RL 2000.

Have you seen a sketch or pics of this phone? I wonder how close you are to the description you just did..

Posted by: DevalB

its all good...the phone is basically a 4920 with rubber grips

Posted by: KevC84

Guys I have seen the phone and have a bad, blurry, low-quality snap-shot of it that I can't post because I promised I wouldn't. It's a 4920 with black rubber grips. It looks really nice. They backlight for the keypad is still green for those who had that question in mind. The size is just like the 4920, the screen looked a little larger than the 4920 but im not sure if it is.

Would't the Rubber grips make it a bit larger? Or are they like built into it or something? Camera?

or

nope...no camera...just take the 4920 and make it rugged

Posted by: KevC84

its not huge rugged its just rugged, take the 7400, its smaller than the 5600 yet its rugged. It has it on the sides not all crazy like the RL-2000 (the rugged 4900 version) that was just huge and hideous.

Posted by: Tauro72

Yeah, the 7200 was probably the ugliest phone ever, but then again was very reliable too..

i really wish sanyo would make a 6000 phone with mm features and bt

Wasn't the 6000 a black and white phone? I really like them back then, but not too sure now..

Here is a pic of the 4930. It's blurry and kind of bad but it gives you the general idea. It was taken from a PDF file on the FCC page. Photos have been locked until November so this is all we get for now.
