i398 is better ...

i398 - Video Recording, iTunes, Quadband

vs.

v398 - faster menu speed... ummm... more stable (slightly)

I think, if you want to flash anyway, i398 is the way to go...

Of course, I'm sure someone will disagree with me...

v398 has much quicker responses to key presses/ menu selections, etc. overall, it's much more zippy. it did not have quadband capability, but it looks like someone figured out a way to enable and register on 850mhz towers very recently.

i398 is slower, unstable, (my phone actually crashes ... white screen, shuts off, and turns back on every so often, completely randomly). it's based on a BETA firmware for a different phone which hasn't been released yet. it DOES have quadband support. video recording is cool, but isn't great quality. the coolest feature is iTunes support. imho the iTunes mp3 player on the phone is the most amazing feature i've found for this phone.

i'll test the quadband support with the v398 firmware tomorrow, *crosses fingers* and hopefully I can find a mp3 player for it i like. the standard one that comes on it i don't really care for...

hope this clears up your questions. it's all about what YOU want. everyone has different needs and opinions. try it out and see how you like it. keep the firmware on your phone for a few days so you can get a feel for all the quirks, and see which you like better. if you're like me, the deciding factor is quadband support, so I've been limited to i398 until now

my quadband on the v398 is working perfectly no problems at all
