This question might sound stupid to you but I very want to know what is NAM Programming. I know how to access it in my 8910 phone and that it stands for manual programming (?). But what can I do with that? Thanks!

NAM means Number Assingment Module it is the same as the long programming.

Ok, thanks for the definition but what can I do with it?

umm......pretty much program ur phone

Ok... program for what? (I'm sorry, I feel like a 4 years old kid but I really want to know...)

Basically, that is how your provider registers your phone on their network. It programs your cell phone number into the phone.

and what happens when I change something likr my provider name, phone number or country code?

If you change the provider name, it will display whatever you put in, but if you put in a diff. phone number on a cdma network, you probably wont be able to make calls or texts, and i don't know about country code, i wouldnt recommend changing it though

Does any one know how to get passed the lock code on the 9155 gpx? Someone changed my default password. Thanks-

Take your phone to your service provider and they should be able to tell you what the unlock code is. They may have to connect it to a computer to get it. Hope this helps

Well thanks for your info but already tried that and for some reason Verizon doesn't have the software to unlock this model of phone using the USB cable even

Verizon can't unlock the phone on Audiovox phones they limit what we can do with these phones badly.

Quick question: Is nam programming your own phone illegal? I mean, does a service provider have to do it, or are you allowed to change anything by yourself?
Posted by: GoldnEyE
It is not illegal to the best of my knowledge but I am not a lawyer. You can change the NAM but you have the potential to mess up your phone. NAM programming is not that common anymore because most carriers use over the air programming (OTA)

Ok. Just curious, because I wanted to explore it with my own phone.
Thanks.

tate60program - If you are still reading this, try typing this in from a blank screen: *LOCK# (*5625#). That is the general Audiovox unlock command that will tell you your password.

I was going to say that but I didn't want to post it in the forums because theives might take advantage.

I found it out by coming in here.
Watch out though, using it can cause issues with your phone. It is a last-resort measure only. After I used that, my phone would give an error message then turn itself off whenever you tried to make or receive a call. VM ended up sending me a new handset after that.
