Getting Slammed By The Local Verizon Corp Store

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Soopafly

Got a new 3 line deal due to the local Verizon corporate store down the street slamming us.

Basically a existing Verizon customer just wanting to get a new Black Razor.. which of course Verizon doesn't have. Went through the sales process and after says she'll browse around other wireless companies since she was still in contract at Verizon.

Co-worker calls me while I'm on lunch to let me know the customer just left Verizon disgusted after all their employees were consistently slamming us and that she had called the store cause she was going to stop by to activate with me. According to Verizon.. apparently we are having problems with our rollover minutes and that we were going to discontinue them? Yeah... so anyhow she came back told me how she pissed off she was with Verizon as a whole and their bullsh*t, ETF'd the Verizon account and added two additional lines for her kids.

So go on slamming us Verizon employees cause it's just hurting you guys!

Ive noticed that Verizon reps tend to be arrogant, much like the AT&T reps of old used to be.

Posted by: flipflops

Yup.

Well when you sell an inferior product you have to put down anyone you can by lying etc... just to make your product seem better.

A good salesman never bad mouths the competition, they sell you on the value of what your company offers.

My guess is that it was a verizon agent not a corp store, if it was a corp store then that's pretty sad.

Posted by: Televangelist

Verizon always does this. When I was looking at a phone upgrade, I shopped around to all companies... Cingular reps on the phone were very nice and professional. When I took the phones they offered me for free (S710A, Siemens S66) to Verizon reps to see if they'd make a competitive offer for my business, they told me that "Any phone Cingular gives away for free is a piece of junk", and that if I really wanted a free phone, I should "Go with Cingular, return the phone after 30 days when I see how it'll fall apart, and then come back to Verizon when I want to pay cash to get a real phone."

So professional! So classy!

Charm School graduates extraordinaire, they are!

It was the corporate store...

And I'm former blue along with all my co-workers and we've never slammed the competition. Focus on the benefits of your service and let it sell it self. There are going to be bad reps just about anywhere regardless of whether its blue, orange, or red (verizon). I just find it great cause the store down the street from us always slam us... talk about bad karma. So they can continue to help my sales.

anyone with half a brain in business and sales should know to never slamo or talk negatively about their competition. it makes you look unprofessional, desparate, and like you are lying about something.

That they don't know how to sell

I said it was probably an agent rather than a corp store because typically corp reps get more sales training.

Posted by: Televangelist

Heh. Someday, one of the senior VPs at Verizon is going to feel curious and anonymously try calling his own sales lines, posing as a Cingular customer, to see what they'll say and do to get him to switch.

And then they'll get actual training.

Lets just end it verizon sucks.

teh same could be said of agents who will and DO say anythign to get the cust to activate, and when they have a problem.. "sorry i cant help you go to the corp store"

and indirects DO NOT get the same training than corp reps so if i say "well the agents dont know cingulars policies and procedures as well as i do.

that is a true statement.

Inferior product? Heh...seriously?

Posted by: flipflops

Yes inferior.

If I have a cell phone and cant get my voice mail cause I am 5 miles from the "IN" network that is in my book a inferior product.

You might wanna revise your book, Verizon's product is far from being inferior. They're a well-oiled machine. Cingular pretty much looks in the mirror everyday and says, "Are we Verizon yet?".

Posted by: Televangelist

Are you kidding, Seltzer?

Let's compare --

With Cingular, I get great call quality and reception.

With Verizon, I get great call quality and reception.

So clearly, those aren't important factors for picking phone service.

At 39.99, I get roughly the same minutes on each -- except, oops, wait, Verizon doesn't have rollover, and Cingular does. Big edge there. Cingular's also got a bigger network, so my unlimited Mobile to Mobile is that much more useful. Points for Cingular.

Time to get a phone! Cingular is willing to work with me and let me haggle, ultimate end result being that I get a phone I really like (SE S710A) for free. Verizon? You can't haggle their 2-JOIN-IN line, and a decent phone will actually cost you money. Having to pay to get a phone you like is utter ********, and Cingular recognizes that -- major points to cingular, here.

Time to add goodies to my phone! Ringtones, games, MP3s, MPEG movies.

Cingular? I just pop a bluetooth dongle into my PC and load my phone up with everything my greedy little heart desires. No charge.

Verizon? They'd like me to pay. Again. For their ******** "V Cast" service. That's an effective 10-20 dollars more per month for the EXACT SAME CONTENT that Cingular gives you for free.

If you look at the same price point with each service, Verizon will stick you with an inferior phone, an inferior plan, and inferior content.

That's what I'd call an "inferior product".

Posted by: flipflops

Thank you.

Plus I dont remember Cingular ever crippling a Bluetooth phone.

You love Cingular but lets go with facts.

I currently have 3 lines of service with Cigular and all 3 are out of contract. They arent willing to give me a break on the phone price at all.....other than what they offer new customers.....retention?

At least Verizon gives you the 2-yr phone price PLUS an extra $100 off if you re-sign for 2 yrs. Thats $100 cheaper than NEW customers.....retention.

Can you tell me what service Cingular is offering for FREE that compares to vcast?

thanks

Keep in mind that if you are on a family plan only the main line would qualify for that

You guys need to understand that the expierience a customer has will depend on the store they do business with. If you go to the Cingular Store in Madison, Tn (Nashville) it is the busiest store in TN. If you go in that store to get a new activation they wil;l tell you to go to another store because they are busy. They also never help with issues that a customer has I was in that store about 5 months ago as a friend of mine wanted to change from Sprint to Cingular. I saw several people who were having issues with their handsets who were told to talk to customer service, which they dialed for them. I will say I am a Blue customer and felt like they use to take care of me, when I was having problems.

One other thing don't forget you guys don't start your N & W till nine which is stupid, unless you pay $7.99 a month. Also no free incoming Text Messages.
This is not a wow in my opinion.
And if i was forced to go Orange I most definetly drop the service unless they gave written guarantee to keep my existing blue feature without an extra charge.
I pretty much don't give a sh*t for rollover minutes.
As for competition Verizon is the only one you guys really have, as T-Mobile is limited and Sprint well need I say more.

Talking about Sprint Nextel, now they will have very good sturdy phones and with shi*ier service. (replace * with a t).

Thanks

This is my opinion and i could be wrong. (words of Dennis Miller)

My guess is that it could be either one. I work at an agent, and I actually sold a lady 2 lines... she had so many brochures and stuff, and I basically walked her through the ups and downs of each carrier, and by the end she bought the phones from me.

I didn't even think about it until she mentioned she was going to cingular to check them out, and as I felt the sale slipping through my fingers, I whipped my cingular phone out and told her flat out "I have cingular, I love them".

I don't reccomend anyone do what I did, but it worked.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

ive noticed selzter slowly transition himself away from cingular as the months passed and has moved slowly into the verizon fan base/will talk more about/promote more about verizon.

LOL, let's go with the facts here indeed!

Such as the fact is, you suck at haggling.

If they're not giving you a break on the phone price, then you're probably not talking to the retention lines (the "SAVE team"). Do some research online about how to get em to offer the good stuff and make sure you call the right line (the cancellation line) to get the good deals.

As for what Cingular offers for free that compares to VCast?

It's called "un-crippled bluetooth". Just put all the stuff from your PC onto your phone. (You can get everything in the world for your phone free online)

Posted by: flipflops

Preach it Brother!

Posted by: deepinya

So Cingular offers free streaming video, news, weather, sports to your phone at broadband speeds just like Vcast?

Tell me more about this free service cause apparently I missed it on their site.

Do you even know what Vcast is?

Posted by: flipflops

Yeah you can load up all the content you want on Cingular phones for free.....Plus I would rather watch MobiTV than silly little 30 second choppy frames from Vcast anyday.

Posted by: deepinya

You both are blinded by ignorance.

clearly fanbois

Please stay on topic... this wasn't meant to be a 'my provider is better' type of threads.

Save that for the newbie forum.. or somewhere else other than employees/agents.
