Cingular

1 yr. - could feed an army.... of ants with the commission given
2 yr. - slight upgrade, but still, not enough.

Verizon

1 yr. - WOW! i can get a USED phone for free! woohoo!
2 yr. - well.....this is the cingular employee & agents forum, i don't know anything about verizon commission

also... one thing you COULD ascertain from cingular & verizon....

There is always a $50 price difference between 1 and 2 year contracts..... so the difference between the two HAS to be $50 right? oh yea

Gross commissions
there was a day when Cingular commissions were much better than Verizon. Cingulars 1yr was as good as Verizons 2yr. Unfortunately those days have passed, now you'll find the numbers to be in favor of Verizon.

Net comissions
Once you consider how much you have to discount to stay competitive with the corp web site pricing its a bout a wash. you discount less to match Cingualr pricing so you net out at about the same as Veriozn since you have to discount a bit more to match their pricing.

Hope that helps

could someone post actual numbers/estimates?

I doubt you'll be seeing any pricing schedules. But it is safe to say that it will be all be changing as of 9/1/05.... for the worse.

Upgrades used to be paid $110 for 1yr and $150 for 2yr. It will now be changing to pay based on MRC (monthly recurring charge). The low end (secondary famtalks) will be paid ****. And the high end ($65+) will be paid basically what we were before.

And for the pricing... the $50 1yr/2yr difference is going out the window. It may happen coincidentally from time to time, but expect to see larger differences.

Must be indirect cause corporate employees get a very small fraction of those amounts. A 2 year upgrade is enough to get the cheapest Value Meal at McD's. A new 2 year activation is enough to see a movie and maybe get some popcorn & coke.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough. That is what the AGENT gets paid. That is not what the employee's commissions are.

it might be different elsewhere but here goes for my area

1YR-- Nada, zip, zilch, zero, nothing!!

2yr new customers-- nada, zip, etc... you know the drill

2yr upgrades-- hold on to your seat now......$4

and you wonder why sales people are jaded...

so where does the $18 upgrade fee go you ask.... well maybe stan could tell you.

I can tell you what we make as an employee of an agent. Hourly plus $8 on an upgrade, and $16 on a new.

in verizon it depends if your in a circuit city, kiosk, or store. I have a friend that works in a circuit city and gets paid like 40 bones for a $79.99 2 yr contract. In kiosks those plans get you $30, 59.99 plans get you 20, 39.99 gets you 15 and less than that I dont know. I dont know how much you get in a store but the payout is less since they have way more traffic than CCs or kiosks.
Upgrades if out of contract pay the same as a regular activation.

At my location, my CSR's get paid $10 for a new act, $5 for an upgrade, they get 100% for features, 4% for accessories plus there hourly.

$12.50 hour/ $10 1yr upg/ $20 2yr upg/ $35 1yr new/ $55 2 yr new/ Full 100% on verticals/ 5% on accessories. Matched 50% on benefits, paid vacation and sick days. Best agent I ever worked for. We have 7 stores and do about 500 new and 800 upgs per month between the 7.

would people prefer to get paid hourly PLUS commission or strictly commission?

Shoo, employees are getting paid less and less. I remember when employees would get paid $100.00 per activation... ah those were the days....well at least someone told me at the mall thats what they got paid..

me, i get paid minimum wage plus free food. Oh yea, oh yea.

Posted by: SuxBeingU

people can still make 100 per activation if they are willing to work for straight commission and do outside sales.
