I finally got my USB Cable today for my 8940 but am unable to install.
Steps I have taken:

1.Enabled all COM ports
2.Installed drivers
3.Plugged in phone
-got error: "this device has failed to start, please launch trouble shooter to help fix the problem"

4.Uninstalled drivers, rebooted
5.Plugged in phone
6.Pointed Windows twords the driver, started to install
-got error: a USB drvice has malfunctioned and Windows cannot recognize it"

Now, before I break my phone, can someone please help me...

Update:

I got my computer to recognize the phone by using the futuredial drivers. I used QPST to transfer a wallpaper and when I rebooted the phone my computer tried to install drivers again but instead of recognizing it as a COM port it said it was a Unknown Device and then I get the error about it malfunctioning. There is nothing I can do to change it. If I uninstall the Futuredial drivers or uninstall the "Unknown Device," nothing changes when I plug the phone back in.

I also have one other question. The wallpaper I transfered to my phone was 205x230 but only covered a very small part of the screen. Before, I tried to send a 1024x728 size wallpaper to my phone using vzwpix.com and that just covered over half of the screen. Is there something I'm missing because it's like my phone is taking these huge pictures and shrinking them down beyond what is necessary.

Hopefully someone has some answers, I would really like to get this working.

I've been reading and trying many varied approaches to doing things with Verizon's version of the Audiovox 8910. Screwed up two phones before I finally broke down and got MAT cable and software from CellCables.com. Upload ringers and wallpaper (128 X 160), dl camera photos, etc. Had a problem using it on my Win98SE computer, so I built a new XP machine, and it's a trouble free, easy way to do the jobs. No more screwing around with ##7678, overwriting phone pics, just straight forward follow the directions on the two CDs supplied.
