Hi,

Is there a NOOB guide for the truly NOOB?

I purchased a Razr that supposed to be modded and unlocked. It tested true on both Fido and Rogers network. I tested this before Fido was bought otu by Rogers. However, when I went overseas, I was not able to use their Pay as you go simcard.

Can someone tell me what is wrong with this??

Does flexing and/or flashing unlock a phone? Or do I have to go with the Unlocking service offer by the sponsor on this site?

Thanks

Hiep

What happened when you tried to use it overseas? Did it ask for the subsidy code, or just not work?
Did the phone originally come from overseas? It might be blacklisted there.

You can't unlock a phone by flashing or flexing, but you can do the reverse however if you have an unlocked phone and you flex it with a locked flex it can re-lock it.
Upgrading the firmware only (flashing) cannot lock the phone though.

Check the Marketplace forum if you want to find a unlocking service

It may be a restriction on the SIM itself. I have a T-Mobile 'Pay as you Go' SIM and it will not work on my unlocked/unbranded phones here in the Bahamas.
