This is a pretty comprehensive glossary of terms used with mobile telephony.
I do have some questions about a couple of the entries, but for the most part what I've read seems to be spot on.

Meaning what exactly?
Posted by: Foxdox
I found most of the meanings for items like Flash, WAP, SIM, but I can not findout that SEEM Edit is.
Also, I know what Unlocked is, but what would be the difference between Unlocked and Unbranded?
Last question (for now anyway)
Do carriers care if you have an unlocked phone OR if you have a phone you get from them, unlocked?
Thanks, as you can tell by my number of post, I'm a newbe here and still learning.

Online glossary also here http://www.gsm-java.com/articles/Gl...le-Phone-Terms/

The definitions for:
Flashing
Flexing
Firmware
I found the answer to firmware, but not the others.
If anyone can help out, that would be great. I would of course be grateful if you could also give me a hint to the meaning of life while you are at it, but am happy to settle for flashing and flexing.
Regards.....

Hi everyone! A quick kudos to all! You guys are soooo cool and sooo great!
I have a question about cloning? I'm not sure if this would be correct but here's my problem:
It seems that the text messages that I send to my email address is not being sent but rather it seems (and I know for a fact), that someone is routing both phone calls and text messages to their own phone (Motorola [not sure the model] )with provider (MetroPCS).
Also, the reason why I know this is because this person (whom is family-related) was using her cell phone and was "voicing" the conversation of who ever it was she was listening to.
I don't know how she does this but my husband and I would like to catch her and MetroPCS can't find any hacking, etc. on my phone as well as hers even after I've given them her phone number.
By the way, I have a Sumsung A850 with provider (MetroPCS).
Can anyone help me give her a taste of her own medicine and report her illegal activities? My husband and I would love it and appreciate the assistance!
Thanks!
PS: You can call me "Desperately Seeking Revenge!"

It might be a trojan java app that's on your phone, like the bluetooth virusses that spread automatically. Check your call routing with your service provider, as you have different call routing options and it might be she set something up to automatically route calls. It's just very weird that you still receive the calls and she hears everything! Freaky! You'll have to prove it though, might be tough.

GSM carriers don't care, that is one of perks of GSM. Unlocked phones.

ACK (TCP), a packet message used in the Transmission Control Protocol to acknowledge receipt of a packet. I must thank you for sharing information.
