Heard a rumor that VZ has come out with a newer software upgrade.
Does anyone know if this is true and what improvements does it provide?

I'd be intrested in hearing this too... Although I don't understand why they would continue making firmware for a phone that is discontinued.

i wish they would add the mp3 player to the 8000, like they did with the 8100

The MP3 player on the 8000 already works....
there is a tutorial on how to make it work here...
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=567212 the only problem is that there isnt much memory on the 8000.
The fact that the 8000 has had a working MP3 player is half the reaon people were so upset that the 8100 MP3 player was disabled. :P

what i mean is the front buttons working and a EQ, like the 8100 and that tut. i couldnt get it working like it says!!! plus the dload tree is in QPST, not bitpim

The front buttons *do* work, you can use the "files system" tab o bitpim to view the dload tree.

you are right about the EQ, there isn't one on the 8000 but the MP3 player and the front buttons *do* work.

anyone know for sure about the update? i still havent got the last update i wasnt sure if i should or not...

I went to verizon and they told me my vx8000's software was out of date. I asked them what it changed and they said it improves battery life (i think thats bs) and fixes a few glitches (which ive still encountered since the update). So overall, id say it did absolutely nothing.
