Am I roaming now?

Hey everyone! I recently got a 7250 on Verizon. I have a questions about who's network I'm on. I've noticed that Nextel and Cingular's (and I guess T-Mobile too) BB's show the name of the network jjust below of clock on the home screen. For Verizon, their *phones* generally show if you are on the extended network or roaming and so forth. How do I tell on my 7250? It doesn't say anywhere on the screen. I know I have the "1X, 1x or none" but that really, when you get down to it, just means data isn't available right? Not immediatelly telling you that you aren't on Verizon's net? Any thoughts?

I know with Nextel and the GSM carriers there are letters next to the signal strength. With Nextel, if its NXTL you have full data service. If its anything like "nxtl" or "NXTl" or "nXTL" then some part of your service is not available. The GSM bb's use "GPRS" if I'm not mistaken, and again variations lacking all caps means that something is missing. I'd assume Verizon would use a similar idea, but not sure. Hope this helps in some way....

For data this is correct. When dealing with the actual network you are connected to, like Alltel vs. Verizon, this just tells you that you have data, not what network you are using. I want to know what actual network I am connected to so I can determine whether I am roaming.

I think it would be fair to assume that "1x" as apposed to "1X" would mean you are roaming. Another way to find out is go to options then network that should tell you, or send an email to yourself if you get it you are not roaming.

If you're roaming, the roaming indicator will appear: The triangle next to your signal bar.

I hate bringing back threads from the dead, but I had to note this for anyone looking back at this thread.
The roaming indicator (triangle) doesn't always seem to indicate roaming.
In Webster, WI, I wasn't supposed to have data coverage according to the coverage map, but I did. I was on the Extended Network according to my VZW cell phone, and the berry didn't show the roaming indicator.
However, in native EV-DO coverage in Scottsdale, AZ, I did show the roaming indicator.
