i took my 5300 to get its program updated and when i went back 2 hours later they told me they fried it and they said they will get me one by tuesday. It wouldnt turn on or anything. Has anyone else have this happen to them? They gave me 120 min but i feel i should get more. I lost all my numbers and pics i took! They said its a new phone and my phone was the first one to get updated at the store and that the software doesnt work. What should i do? Wat can i do? I dont beleive they can get me a new phone by tuesday. IM SO PISSED!!!

Posted by: xxcanihitsxx

70 ppl viewed this and no one has a comment on wat i can do. Or had similar experience.

If you really want opinions, here's my 2 C:

I think they are doing what they can (120 min + brand new phone) to pay for their mistake. If you take your arguments (lost your contact list, pics, etc) over to them, they might back off and offer you a bit more. But that doesn't really bring back what you lost does it? Just remeber that eveyone makes mistakes, once in a while.

What does the upgrade 'fix'/do?

Posted by: JuNacy

I'm not entirely sure what 1.034SP does, but 1.035SP is supposed to boost the earpiece volume.

Posted by: dannydos

some thing to do with number portability

Posted by: dannydos

and 1.035sp is also suppose to fix the sub lcd time problem

Posted by: dannydos

i think short mail on vision phones suck it takes to long for the whole process. i needed to get that off my chest

What is the 'number probability' thing?

Does it really 'boost' the earpiece problem?

I agree with the whole 'short mail' thing as well.

Oh, one more thing...
What is 'Error 20'? I get that message when I try to upload my pictures I've taken. I could upload them until 2 days ago, now, I get that 'Error 20' thing.

Not sure what I would have done. I called the Sprint store last week before I went in, to make sure they had the 1.034sp software which they said they did. Was in the store for 20-30 min and the manager came back to me and said the softwrare didn't work to come back in a couple of days. Not surprised. My phone sometimes powers off for a second when on the web, not sure if it did it prior to the software upgrade, just makes me wonder now (I think the software upgrade might help that).
I talked to Sprint yesterday and they did say that the software upgrade 1.035sp for the volume is suposed to come out Dec 2. I told him what happened to your phone and he sugested that if you have 1.032sp get the 1.034sp first and then get the 1.035sp. Don't skip softwares because there is a small chance that the phone could fry. Could be what happend to yours?
I'm going to get the 1.034 mon and then get the 1.035 thurs hopefully it's in because I have until fri to return it. I really like the phone but Sanyo screwed up on the earpeice again. The camera is ok when the lighting is perfect. I know the next phone I get I'm going to wait at least 2 months before I buy so hopefully all of the bugs are taken care of. If software doesn't improve volume I might go back to my crapy Samsung N-200 and wait for the Kyocera 7135. I think it's kind weird that there is no marketing on the 5300 probally because Sanyo knows they rushed to get the phone out before Christmas and forgot to test it.

no marketing. ive seen it in print ads all over in both spanish and english including a full page ad in TIME magazine.

(for the 5300)

The only relationship between WLNP(Wireless Local Number Portability) and the Sanyo 5300 earpiece volume problem is confusion in this forum. 1.034SP upgrades 5300software for the first phase in rolling out WLNP(being able to take your cool old cell provider's number to another carrier) which is being done to all handsets. 1.035SP will address earpiece volume and time on sub-LCD

You told them about my problem? If so, you are very generous and I thank you.

So, I should get the 1.034 first? What does that one do?
The 1.035 is for the volume then.

I called the sprint store that fried my phone and this was the response i got. We have found 3 sprint stores nationwide that has the phone in stock but we cant find out there phone number to contact them, we only have the store #. wat kind of BS is that! They said they emailed someone to get the phone number but they havent responded. I asked them why they couldnt call them and they said the thought didnt occur to them. That BS too. Thats telling me they dont give a crap about me and could careless about my situation. I had to call CS and they have sent one out for me. I dont understand how hard it is for a sprint store to contact there own office to have one delivered to them instead of finding a store that has one in stock.

I saw that ad for the 5300 in Time. At the bottom .. it shows Circuit City and Best Buy. Damit .. When is the phone going to show up there??

I know how you feel now, This sucks! What's the dam problem? I guess these vision phones are a pain in but to put software in. Thinking about going back to a 2g phone untill vision gets better.

They FRIED my 5300 today! I have to wait untill another comes in, but probally won't get it unless it has the 1.035 current software. I have a loaner phone for now.
This is the 2nd or 3rd post I've read about Sprint stores frying a 5300 while trying to put software into the phone. Probally will see more if Sprint or Sanyo doesn't fix it quickly.
5300 owners if you go into a Sprint store to get software for your 5300, I would talk to the store tech about this frying problem. See if they have put any software into a 5300 yet, after what happend to me I wouldn't want to be the first. I think I was the first at the Sprint store in Ohio (sawmill rd) location. I was just getting the 1.034 software because they didn't have the 1.035 in yet. I talked to a Sprint tech over the weekend about the 2 software upgrades and told him I read on howardchui.com that a 5300 owner got his phone fried by upgrading the software and he said there is a small chance the phone could fry if you skip softwares. So I tryed to prevent this by just getting the one software at a time but they still fried it.

I know accidents happen but am I wrong for asking for compensation? What do you think fair compensation is?

I have to reenter all contacts, screensavers, ringers (email addreses which takes for ever)

Pictures losted, some saved on computer. not sure on this but when you download them to your phone they don't look as good on your phones as from a picture from your picture wallet.

All the time involved going to store, talking to custormer care/tech

sorry if to long

just got off the phone with local sprint store, they confirmed that the current software version is 1.035, but the the store 1) does not have this update yet 2) don't have whatever it takes (cable/software) to install anything for 5300... and plus now i'm afraid they may fry my phone since i haven't saw any successful software installation stories... maybe we should all wait?

Posted by: tbakergobucks

I read another 5300 got fried today at sprintusers site
Does Sprint read these sites at all? I think it's a no brainer that Sprint should stop upgrading software into the 4900's and the 5300's ASAP!! until they get a higher sucess rate. not sure about other vision phones. I got a reply back from a 4900 owner saying he went to a Sprint store and they wouldn't upgade software to his phone because they had already fried 2 that day!

I think you're right. I was going to get the upgrade(s), but, since all this 'frying' business started, I am going to wait.
