SK65 Locked?

Hey guys,

A friend of mine just decided to buy an SK65 for use with his Nextel plan but it seems to be locked. He'll put his SIM card in there and the phone will tell him "Network Disabled" only letting him dial emergency numbers (no other features seem to be active). I've browsed these forums but it doesnt look like anyone else has had any similar problems. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Nextel is not a gsm network...

But it is iDEN which has GSM 800,900 and 1.5 counterparts. Is it not workable? And even when a cingular card is put into the phone it does this... strange, right?

GSM phones won't work on Nextel because it's iDEN and vice versa.

Are you 100% sure?

Also, if it says "Network Disabled" even with a Cigular card in there, does that indicate that the phone is locked? And if so, how can the phone be unlocked? I think this guy is planning on switching to cingular... Thanks for the help.

I am positive. GSM fones will only work on a GSM network. Nextel is NOT a GSM network. As per using his fone on Cingular... if the fone is locked then check the HoFo marketplace for vendors in your area that can unlock the device.

What is HoFo? I appreciate your help, Synncere.
