Sony Ericsson's P800 model, featured heavily in the new Bond film, 'Die Another Day,' is set to be the first mobile phone among the new generation of smartphones to be supported by the company Mobeon. STOCKHOLM SWE 11/28/2002

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In a few weeks time, SonyEricsson will be launching a new mobile phone that will completely eliminate the need for both a palmtop and a mobile phone. Together with Mobeon's product, mPIM, which provides access to company e-mail, as well as calendar and address book functions, the phone will truly live up to the name of 'Smartphone.'

SonyEricsson's P800 model, featured heavily in the new Bond film, 'Die Another Day,' is set to be the first mobile phone among the new generation of smartphones to be supported by the company Mobeon. "By using the small screen HTML browser built into the phone instead of WAP, the user experience will be
as simple as it is outstanding," says Ulf Avrin, Mobeon's CEO.
Mobeon has a long-term strategy of allowing the user to determine which phone or palmtop to use to be able to read company e-mail, instead of being controlled by the underlying technology. Today the company supports more than
40 different handsets where the mPIM product exploits the unique
characteristics of each model. The support for SonyEricsson's new mobile is part and parcel of this strategy. "Mobeon's product, together with a SonyEricsson P800, is going to be a truly 'Smartphone' and the first product to give you a really reliable office in your pocket," Ulf Avrin goes on to say.
SonyEricsson states that the P800 will be rolled out before Christmas and made commercially available at the start of 2003. As and when it becomes available on the market, Mobeon will be delivering its unique product support that takes full advantage of the phone's potential. "It will be possible to click on a phone number located in your contacts on the company's e-mail
server and call up direct; you'll no longer need to have all your phone numbers stored in the handset. In addition, the user can opt to receive an SMS whenever important new e-mail drops into the in-box," says Philip Nestenborg, product management director at Mobeon.
Among the companies who have licensed and sell mPIM based products are Ericsson and Telenor, in their respective 'Ericsson Mobile Organizer' and 'Intrawap.'
