It is just me or does it seem like since we merged they expect more from us and pay us much less. They are hiring tons of part time workers and we are all having trouble meeting quota. Noone will stay becuase they have no benefits and crappy hours. XBM & insurance claims customers get crappy phones & we have to deal with it all the time. Is it mandatory for all sales reps to work every saturday? Are they driving you guys nuts about accessories, MRC and Feature attachements? Is it juist my area?

Not no more. I jumped ship along time ago.

IYou might want to rethink a different career path or at least a different line of work if you are uset about all of those things. You see, these are all ways the company keeps profitible while making improvements on their system. As for the additional employees, just do a lot better job and really learn how to be a great sales person. Read some books by tom hopkins, he'll show you how to make more money with your exhisting customer base. Good luck

i've learned to simply not listen to what they say and simply do what i can.
listening to them will only make you hate your job more and will make you feel miserable.

translation to plain english: this is cingulars way to payback for the overpriced and not so worthy at&t wireless.

my supervisor says this all has nothing to do with the merger they "paid cash for at&T"

no offense your whole up with people attitude is a bit grating the nerves, yeah yeah read books you'll be better.

Obviously you're a company man and have drunk the kool-aid and are enjoying, God bless you the company counts on your blind loyalties to help through the "transition". Cingular has changed alot and will continue to do so moving forward, commissions NEVER go up but always down, employees are always expected to do more not less.People get frustrated and come her to complain, huh Alfred. It doesn't mean they hate Cingular they're just frustrated. Use these forum to gauge the morale of your employees company wide and safe to assume you'll learn a little about your reginal employees as well.
for the most part they are just blowing off steam, please don't take this place too seriously you'll either get real depressed and buy into the whoa is me syndrom or you'll explode out of frustration.
BTW
I have read alot of books on business and selling and the one thing I learned was as long as you're an employee, you're not going to reach your full financial potential unless you're in the top tier of managers. If you read Warren Buffet, Iaacocca or Trump you'll agree. So everyone goal should be to work for yourself not Cingular.

I liked my job on the whole- best one I've ever had. But this secret shop b.s. was the last straw (see my thread).

Posted by: switchchick

Do you all have a script to go by for every customer? (its got on the answers to mystery shopper questions ON IT) They said we should spend at least 1hr with every customer. Who are they kidding/

Posted by: StattlichPassat

Yep, talk of the script led me into authoring my own to give to them. You can read it in my thread.

It has ALOT to do with the merger. Cingular didn't pay for AT&T....bellsouth and SBC did. They paid too much and now want Cingular to cut expenses to make the company more profitable, which I totally understand, but SBC owns 60% of cingular. And what is the easiest way to cut expenses.....cut compensation plans and just for kicks raise benefit prices...

everyone has the stupid script, and everyone has the 4 categories to hit or you get SAMed (subs, accessory $ per goss add, rate plan mix 59.99 and higher, and feature $ per gross add)

This is how STUPID cingular is... In my store we sell ALOT of prepaid (which you only get $3 for) and yet they add those prepaid numbers in the mix for our feature dollar quota.....only problem I can't sell features on prepaid because cingular won't let us... doesn't make a whole lot sense to me.

So do I. The only one I've ever setup was because I felt sorry for a couple of refugees from the New Orleans area this afternoon- it was the perfect solution for them as they get their business back on the ground in the short-term here in Dallas with an area code that works (504 is gone).

I've always otherwise just referred people to sign up online or in corporate-owned locations. Bad credit? Like I want your business...

My friend likes to think of prepaid acts as loans, because they almost always get deactivated before the vesting period is over.

I always hated pick your plan go phones for the no cash option. I mean who exactly does cingular think are interested in prepaid? People with loads of money and who don't want a contract for the principal of it? No! Do they think people that can't get approved have credit cards laying around to be used? No! Or maybe they think people who can't pay their bills on time are probably responsible enough to have recurring payments taken out of their credit cards, I think not!

No, the type of people (a majority anyway) that want prepaid either have no credit or bad credit and therefore do not have a credit card and in my experience don't have a checking account either. They are also typically people that get paid in cash and don't have credit cards and only keep cash on hand. Just because they are prepaid doesn't mean cingular needs to treat them like the plague and have them go to green dot locations to fill up a visa so they can make a payment on their prepaid account, way to inconvenience potential customers. Nice work cingular on making potential revenue look into other carriers prepaid options.

Let me give you a tip on selling prepaid to cover the vesting period. The only way i sell prepaid is with a 20 or 25 dollar card. I dont even use an activation kit. I just use a sim and a card. This automatically puts them over there vesting period. 90 days for the card, 60 days in the system over the 90 days puts them over the vesting period in my market. I refuse to sell them any other way cause you are right they will deact just about every time. It makes for a harder sale due to higher initial cost, but it makes it almost impossible to deact.

JD's got it the right way. I've been doing that since this whole GOPhone thing got revamped. I never use a prepaid kit. SIM's are free right now anyway. It's the same price if you use a $25 card.

And to Lazarus I feel for you man. They did that to us 2 months ago too. Instead of a $4/box avg and a bonus, I got a $3/box avg and a pat on the back. They did this for accessories too but that wasn't hard. Hope they change it for you guys soon. I wonder if they've even realized that you can't sign up features on a Prepaid? If MMS Prepay is a feature then maybe I'll rethink this.
