Alarms sound even if the phone is turned off!

Anyone know how to stop alarams associated with events from sounding when the phone is turned off? That is, alarms seem to turn the phone on temporarily so that the ringtone can be played (I guess the designers of the phone think that people don't want to miss their appointments because the phone is turned off).

The problem is I have some events that are "all day" in Outlook and therefore start at midnight. Suffice it to say, I don't want to be notified at midnight about the event

Also, I took the phone on a plane and had it in my pocket but it was turned off. The alarm went off anyway and the flight attendant thought I had it turned on!

I'm starting to think this is a BIG problem with this phone ...

Alarms are great, and I've heard that cellular phones don't actually interfere with airplane equipment. (I'm not holding my breath on this, but it's been vigourously discussed and disputed in another forum, so I'm just passing information...)

Anyway... you can specify when the START and END of your day is. Maybe this will change it from beeping at midnight to ____am when you specify. Menu > Calendar Setup > Star of day

Problem is that when you sync with Outlook, all day events (like birthdays or holidays) get set from 00:00 to 23:59. I experience the same problem and agree that it is a weakness (along with not being able to have monthly events).

Joe, one thing you can do is to switch your phone to silent mode (menu *). Problem is that you have to keep your phone on.

BTW, I have noticed that my all-day events get triggered 24h before they are supposed to happen. Does anyone have the same problem?

It's really a major annoyance that you can't keep the phone from reminding events. This issue was promised to be "considered seriously" for the 4.0.0 update. Unfortunately nothing changed.

As a workaround you can manually assign a custom ring tone that consists of a pause to events.

However, if the phone switches on itself no GSM functions are executed. But you'll have a hard time convincing the flight attendant.

Make sure the date set on your phone is correct ... jd

It might not be the date... the phone can give advance warning up to 3 days.

Date is correct and no advance warning is set. All my all-day events get triggered exactly 24 hours before they are supposed to. Seems like a bug to me...

You probably synced your all-day dates from Outlook. Outlook sets all-day events from 00:00 to 00:00 which is not OK because it covers more than 24h. You need to set the end time to 23:59 then it should work. It's rather an Outlook bug.

In fact the new version of XTNDConnect seems to convert the Outlook all-day events to 0:00-23:59 (on my phone they are all stored as such). That doesn't seem to be the problem...

Just figured out the problem.

Seems to be a bug with the advance flag translation. The only thing it seems to be doing is display the advance (if 1) or display 0 (if 0). However, the alarm gets triggered based on the advance time no matter whether the flag is set or not. Since my default advance in Outlook is 24 h, even if I didn't flag the advance (the advance on my phone states 0), the alarm gets triggered 24h ahead.

I will now use this fault to default my advance at 1 hour so that all-day events get triggered at 11pm instead of midnight.
