I tried the gps application on my sanyo mm-8300 (garmin) and it worked great. Every turn was right on and the voice directions were nice and clear.

would like to hear your initial reactions to TeleNav GPS

how do you use the gps feature? i never knew about it

I can't tell you about teleNav just garmin. It works like a gps should. The voice directions (turns) are right on as well as the map. It's available thru sprint for the sanyo 8300, 5600 and the 7400.

Unfortunatley, I think TeleNav isn't available for the 8300 yet. For Sprint phones, it's available for the LG MM 535, the Sanyo MM 5600, and the Sanyo MM 7400.

I have the telenav program on my 8300, which I got from ringerpost and it works prefectly.... I also have garmin, which is not reliable at all, I can never get a gps signal.

I purchased an 8300 last week, in part to get both Garmin and Telenav and test them out. I used Telenav in a Nextel phone a couple of weeks ago (in an Avis rental) and it was great. But despite the fact that the www.telenav.com says that you can download the software onto an 8300, I've not been able to find it AND the sales rep. at the Sprint store could not find it either. I've used the Garmin a couple of times, and it seems pretty good.

had trouble with the garmin in the past..steer clear

As of last night at middnight, TeleNav was made available to download through the Content Manager on the Sanyo 8300. You should be able to download it without any problems now.

Also, if you have any questions on using TeleNav on it, we just set up our own forum on the TeleNav Website to assist you.

Will there be Telenav on the Sanyo 9000 as well? I know that the company has to work out the software for each phone, but thought you might know the latest info.

You should be able to use the Telenav for the 5600 on the 9000. The only difference will be the speed of the downloads (since the 5600 doesn't have ev-do), but it should work. Once they release a version of telenav that utilizes ev-do it will be much faster. But I used telenav on my 5600 and it's pretty fast already. I prefer garmin though because of the maps. They've actually done some upgrades since I first got it and it seems to work much better now.
