Sony Ericsson Z520a, Garbage

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Haha, what a piece of trash. Look at the design of that thing. why do they thing anyone wants a chunky little handle bar on the top of their flip phone, that just makes it more bulky... get rid of the training wheel handle bar and u might get some sales

Posted by: ncvaco

I would gladly make such a sacfrice if it's RF is as good as the z500. I personally like the desgin. Different strokes for diffrent folks.

Posted by: SonyStyle

yes, but its su weird, no one wants the handle. it looks stupid.

Posted by: zerilos

im considering picking up z520 or w600, depending on whichever comes out first.

i believe both phones have the handle and it's supposed to be an antenna. anyway, i could care less about it and i'm eager to see this phone. i'm just glad that SE is releasing some potentially good phones with 850.

Posted by: SonyStyle

the handle looks so dumb, are u guys serious?

Posted by: boston_errol

how can you be so critical of a phone if it's not even out yet....

it's a quadband flip other than a moto... that's amazing alone.

Posted by: SonyStyle

I cant live with the handle. that and the thickness and the keypad. SE's flips dont appeal to me....

Good morning, Errol!
Speaking of phones that aren't out yet... he's waiting for the Nokia 8801, remember?

its not a handle, its the antenna ... and its got some pretty good specs so its not some crappy entry level phone.

The Z520a's mesurements are, 83mm x 46mm x 24mm, smaller then the Z500a and about the same size as a V220(84x44x24). The Z500a measures out at 93 X 49 x 24.

Calling it "garbage" without any mention of performance or quality is quite the judgement.

However, with the phone in your avatar, and in light of your recent thread about the Nokia 8801, we all know by now where you values lie.

Posted by: CaptShadow

It does have some nice features. But no EDGE????

Posted by: SonyStyle

fun fun of hofo, you state u dont like a handle/antenna on a phone and people come rushing in to save it.. It has bluetooth, wow, its gonna be an ok phone, but i cant stand the design, so that said, I am over the top about not liking things, so atleast i admit.

SE actually matches nokia in terms of RF (as far as i can tell) so your argument is blown as of now.

u are lame.

oh noes, netslang! whatever shall i do! i'm lame! oh no! grow up dude, stop being a total nokia fanboy, i'm also a nokia fanboy but not even close to as bad as you, it's pathetic actually the level how you just troll and bash other phones

Let’s respond to other members posts with a little more tact, and lets leave the personal attacks out of this.

I for one love SE's phones, and think they are 2nd to Nokia in RF from my experience. Granted, I'm not crazy about the handle bar antenna, but I think any effort to improve reception will be welcomed by most. I think there are some improvements that need to be made from the z500, and it looks like the z520 will do that. I also think the price point will be very reasonable, which will be a good selling point as well. However, until it’s released, I don’t think anyone can really judge the phone in terms of quality.

you can't pass on judgement on a mobile that you've never used, let alone seen in person

Posted by: vuittongirl

i am excited about the z520a. I am looking forward to it. I dont think it will be a "lame" phone. TO each their own i say.

Posted by: ASimpleFarmer

is this another one of your "official" threads?

Posted by: quillhill

I'm actually turned off by the loop antenna, as well, but that doesn't mean I won't pick one up in a store and play with to see if it has features that might help me get past that. Besides, how a phone looks in photos can be very deceiving compared to how it looks in person. So, I won't make any final decisions about what I think of the phone until I get a chance to see it up close and play with it. I like SEs and would own another under the right circumstances. And I actually think, in terms of design, this is a great step forward from the z500.
In short, I'm just going to wait and see. Novel concept, I know.

Posted by: zerilos

To me, that handle antenna sets this phone apart a little. The z520 is what the z500 should've been and I'm guessing it'll most likely be this year's 6230/v-series phone that people will consider pretty reliable.

Granted, if I could afford picking up an 8800/8801, I'd definitely get one, but at $150 (according to engadget if I remember right), this phone packs an excellent feature set for the price.

Posted by: ceebz

I will agree that the "handle" looks a bit ridiculous. Is it becoming standard on all SE phones?

Another thread where he tries to say the 8801 rules and getting any other phone is a waste of money or sucks. Pretty sad.

I think the antenna is kinda cool; reminds me of this thingy on the back of many sport cars.

I don't see myself picking one up, as SonyEricsson has put their best effort to keep their screens harder and harder to read for visually-impaired users. From the specs, though, looks like a welcome upgrade to the Z500a.

Posted by: microchip13

I kinda like the Z520, it's what I've always wanted, an SE flip with bluetooth.

I do already have my V635 and I don't think my parents would be too thrilled on me switching phones again. But I really do like it.

Posted by: killah21

z520 is an excellent entry-level phone, good for people who dont want to spend alot of money on phones, cingular's gonna cash in with this one!

Posted by: SonyStyle

I will agree, i am over the top about a lot of things I say, its kind of immature to say that this phone is garbage, jsut because i dont like one aspect of it, Im gonna work on this, later guys

I didn't like the V60 when it first came out. But after owning and using it alot. I perfer flip phones over candy bar phones. To each their own. I'm with you. Until I see the phone in a store to play with. Then make a decsion on it. By looking at it on a web site. Not like the real thing.
