MPx220 Software Unlock?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have an unlocked, Cingular-branded MPx220 with ROM version 1.30 and I cannot get certain software installed. I understand that Microsoft has a security check in place that disallows installation of unsigned software.

I tried SD Unlocker from SurrealNetworks, but it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

what is the error message? perhaps it was made for a ppc and not a smartphone.
some software just doesnt work.

Are you positive its unlocked??? Download Smartione and runs its security check and it will tell you if your phone is actually unlocked. If it is locked Smartione will unlock it for you. As mentioned before what message does it give you. Something about an invalid certificate??? Also what App are you trying to install???

Wirelessly posted (MOT-MPx220/1.030 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220))

The phone is unlocked - it is Cingular-branded, but I am a T-Mobile customer. I plan on upgrading to generic ROM version 1.47 when I get home from vacation. Does anyone think that'll help?

The error I get says that the installation file is not digitally signed. The file I am currently trying to install is an .hme file, but I'd rather not have this problem again regardless the format.

The software lock setting can be toggled in any ROM image, and Smartione is as good a tool as any for handling that.

All right, I'll give it a try. Thanks!

I have the same problem. I'm running 1.47 with Cingular OPR and unlocked the phone using Smartione. It still gives me above mentioned error for some softwares I'm trying to install (i.e. Launcher). Have not found a solution yet

I tried to use Smartione to software-unlock my phone, but when I launch it, it crashes immediately after loading. I watched the Windows processes, and it does appear at launch time, then the process dies and nothing happens. All I see is the splash screen - the app window never opens.

Any ideas?
