iPod Nano, Mini, or Regular

OK, I'm probably going to be buying an iPod soon and I need to know which one to buy. I can get each of the ones I'm looking at for the around $250. With the Nano, I'll be getting the newest most stylish one, with pic capabilities, but the least amount of songs. With the Mini, I'll be getting basically the middleman. Not quite as stylish as the Nano but holds more songs, and vice versa with the Regular iPod (20GB is the one I'm talking about unless you can get a 40 gig now for 250 which I doubt?). Regular one won't be very small though I think they look ok, but it holds alot more songs. I'm at a loss as to which one I should get right now. I'm thinking Nano because honestly 1000 songs will probably be enough, but I'm still not sure so please argue for whichever iPod you think is best bang for the buck. Oh and finally does anyone know the best place to find a good price on these (besides eBay)? Thanks.

You may not have noticed this, but the iPod mini has been discontinued.

That doesn't mean he still can't buy one. He just wont be able to get one directly from apple.

OP: I would get the 4GB nano. (in fact, I AM going to get one). Like you said 1000 songs is plenty. With a 20GB ipod, you can load all of your songs but chances are that you will never listen to the majority of those songs. I have 1GB of memory on my phone for listening to mp3s, and the other day, I had to fill it up with some of my favorite songs for a long airplane ride. I was only able to fill 500MB. Belive me, 4GB is more than enough.

Well, do you really need something as small as the nano?? The ipod mini is very small to begin with. 4gig nano, is going to be more expensive than the mini.

I would only buy the nano if you are going to use it while doing some sort of physical activity like biking or jogging, or something similar. You can use the ipod mini in these situations, but the nano would be more convenient.

You can definetly get a 40gb ipod for around $250USD on ebay, maybe less. I would only suggest you get a 20, 30, 40, or 60 gig ipod only if you plan to put pretty much you whole music library on your ipod. If you plan to just listen to current music, its better to just stick with a mini or nano.

2gb nano is a good choice if your willing to spend more than what a 4gb mini would cost, but like I said if your not going to use it for a situation where size matters, than its not really worth it IMO.

Well, if you want the newest, hottest thing out, then yes, get the nano at $250. I would personally get the mini at $199 for the same amount of storage and longer battery life...but without the photo capabilities (does anyone really use that!?)...that's just me though. And as always, if you don't need the mp3 player now, wait a few months to see what apple has up their sleeve for the 20 and 60 gig versions (if any). Sony just announced some new players today too with oled screens...they probably have like 50 hours of battery life -

You should check the Red Tag area of the Apple Store for a Mini. A lot of times they will blow out old stock there. They also have good deals on refurbs too.

Hmm well I plan on putting my library on the iPod I get but you have to remember my library isn't very large anyway (in fact not large at all) but I have Limewire and I do plan on downloading alot of songs. So yeah that's why it's so hard for me to decide. Does anyone know what they'll do (if anything) to upgrade the 20+gigs and how far in the future they'll release new ones? To those getting a 4gb Nano, why are you getting that over the 6gb Mini (I know it's discontinued but of course you can still get them pretty easily)? I'm just wondering is everyone just getting it because it's the hot new thing? Because the Mini seems as good or better to me but I'm still debating. Well I'm going to the mall this weekend so I'll get a chance to actually see what they're like up close so that should help me decide too. Oh and again any good stores anyone knows of please tell me (I don't like to order off eBay much I mean I will but I don't like to).

i currently have a mini, 6gb but man does that nano look nice, so thin and color screen. Imho the regular ipod is huge..anyway even if you did say had a 4 gig nano, and 6 gigs of music, just delete stuff you dont want, you cant seriously listen to ALL songs on ur computer, i bet most of them are just albums you listen to only a few songs on lol

I have a green mini - 4gb hard drive - brand new - never opened.

I won it in a raffle and don't really need it. Make me a decent offer if your looking to purchase one.

Email me.

woudnt it be better if they simply called this ipod nano as "nano-pod" or "nano pod", i think it sounds better at least...

See that's the thing I don't wanna have to delete much which is why I'm probably gonna get the 20gb. Does anyone think they'll be coming out with a new regular iPod soon? Because I heard they might have an announcement the 20th but I need a iPod before the 5th hopefully because I'm going on a trip then and would like to have one. Thanks guys.
