MY current phones are:

Sony Z7e
Sony j70e
Sendo 550

I love them all to bits. They are tiny, cool, retro and very cheap!

BUT, they all suffer from silly niggles.

Sony Z7e: Can only store 10 messages, and if one is sent bigger than 160 characters.. it just wont open it! Also, no vibrate function.
Sony j70e: Slightly bigger than the Z7e, but message problems again.
Sendo 550:Holds enough messages, but the t9 predictive text will not learn new words.. really really annoying!

So, i want;

small
cheap
holds lots of texts
learns predictive text

and a nice bonus (but not essential) would be a camera.

Any ideas?

Have you looked at the Amoi S6 or CS6 on Amazon? If you want something that works great as a phone, you should try a Sony Ericsson K700i. Best UI ever, very well thought out.

What other considerations do you have while selecting a phone?

hmmm I'm thinking v220 or v180. I'll probally be buying one of these soon just to have a cheap screw around phone to take to the amusment parks and other places I wouldn't want to take my s7.
