Why don't you paint the buttons/back/screen frames? The all black one is WAY cool looking. I've always kinda thought that the white screen frame and buttons were kind of funny looking. If you're going to disassemble the device enough to paint the top cover, spend the extra 5 minutes and take it the rest of the way apart.

Good looking black job though. I like that one a lot.

well actually the frame and buttons are painted, the original color of the sidekick is light grey. its just that i need to find new color combos. any ideas?

I think the white makes it look like those parts aren't done - at least from the photos there's no distinction that it's a different color. Makes it look like a skin.

I think the top and bottom covers and screen frame being the same color looks best (to me). it makes it obvious that the paintjob was professionally done.

For the keys either the same color (with painted insets for the engraved parts) or a complimentary color, but I think they look best when they're not white.

I like what you did with the keys on the black one - even that outlining is a bit of overkill, just paiting the inserts a different color would be good.

because of the white bits, the all-black one is the only one I think I'd ever consider paying actual money for. I think for the other ones I'd be afraid people would look at it and say "cool, but how come you didn't get the white parts painted"?

Sorry, I have to apologize for the horrible pics, they are off of a video camera. The white parts are indeed WHITE. And YES, there is a big distinction from the factory color. I paint them as the customer requests, some of those are my own design.

All black is very very popular, frankly, I am tired of that, hence other designs. The gunmetal and white one is on Ebay right now. There are better pics of it in the auction.

Oh, here is a pic of a factory SKII for comparison, it's light grey basically:

Or paint just the pattern on each key a contrasting or complimentary color?

I think I would prefer Titanium or carbon (color) vs brigher colors. Something a bit darker than the keyboard color and non-gloss.

I've been trying to tell people to get different colors. That's why I went with the gunmetal, if you saw it in person you'll see that the metal flakes in the paint really make it stand out.

A note about the paint, I spray my paint in thin coats, and I clear feels really smooth and helps to really protect the paint as well as give it a good shine. Maybe I'll do an all gunmetal one next.

the candy apple is nice.. good job dood

Thanks for the comments!! Many many many people like the black. But I've been able to convince my latest customers to try something a little more original. I'll upload pics asap.

A sidekick ii should be arriving for me to paint saturday. Gloss black. White buttons. And white bumpers later on. Should be interesting.

The last one in the first post is Gunmetal. Deep color with flakes. Subtle gloss, but noticeable.

Rochester, NY. I do both. Price for paint only is $50 + all shipping. Effective 9/19/05 price will be $75. I also do lettering and logos (simple) for an extra $25.

I don't think that would be a problem.

Posted by: nlcmobsta183

how much u think is the shipping from bronx ny?

Posted by: vietphunguyen

like 4 bucks, i require u get delivery confirmation as well, and i will do the same when i ship back - it's 45 cents and will save a lot of headache. I can't say i didn't receive it or something like that. my zip code is 14621. u can do a quote from www.usps.com. i believe they have a flat rate of at least 3.85 for priority. we're pretty close and i believe standard post would net the same delivery time tho, which would be about 2 bucks.

Just a reminder, i will be raising my rates starting 9/19/05, it will be $75 for a standard paint job (2 colors max). cusomization is an extra $25. here is an example of $25 customization on a cell phone:

(it's my friend's cell phone, not 100% perfect, that's why he's getting it for free (not the paint job, just the jumpman logo), and i get to use it as promotional material.
