Mpx220 internet speed on Cingular vs unlocked phone?

I had the Mpx220 on Cingular since November and exchanged it a few times for various issues: ear piece volume, charging issues, and slow and un consistant internet connection. When I got rid of my last Cingular mpx220, it had the most recent firmware available and when I checked my emails and surfed a few sites it was unbarable slow. That was the main reason I got rid of it. I went through a few phones, but missed all the options, and size, of the Mpx220 so i found an unlocked (black) one on ebay and got it. Wow!!! The internet seems twice as fast on this one and I don't have to restart my phone every 2nd time I try to connect to the internet.

Is there a reason for this?? I am so back in love with my Mpx220 now it's unbelievable!!

All and all, the whole phone seems more stable, and the ear piece is louder than my cingular branded ones too..... is the Cingular stuff that buggy?

What ROM is on the black one? It is probably not the cingular branded 1.43, right?

I have always found the Cingular/ATT branded ROM's to be slower when browsing the internet than with the Asian or Generic ROM's.

No, I have 1.28 and it's either Asian or generic (not sure which one), I do know when I did a hard reset it came back on in Asian if that helps.

PS..... Omega, just some FYI, I still cant get my MMS to work? don't know why either... I mean I only use it to email myself (or friends) the pics I take. Is there another way to email pics?

If you have a pop3, IMAP or you sync with Exchange or Office Outlook you can send pictures or add attatchments easily. Just go to photo album, select the picture, hit menu and send via email.

Make sure you set up MMS right in Start, Settings, MMS Settings. You can find the Cingular Settings on my Windows Mobile Blog.

This is good to know because I was going to put the Cingular branded ROM on when I change providers. I'll stay with 1.47 generic for now . Any problems using that with Cingular other than having to manually enter all the settings?

Does anyone know how to setup the Internet on this phone? I have no settings in my phone for internet.

Yep, Omega does... go to his blog by either clicking here: http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/blo...2008/index.php?

or by going a few post up and finding Omega's first post and clicking on the link in his signature. You'll find all the settings you need to get hooked up.
