*3370# on a Nokia 3120?

I've been having a lot of problems lately with garbled calls, dropped calls, I can hear them but they can't hear me, etc. I was told by tech support that there were problems with a least 2 towers in my area. Anyway, just to experiment on my end I put *3370# in my nokia 6010 to enable EFR and it seemed to help with the garbled calls. But, when I tried this on the 3120 it does nothing. Is this disabled on the 3120?

that service code is no longer available in the newer nokias...esp since ENS is such a big thing now (until all the blue towers are converted).

Try doing a master reset and if that doesn't work get an IRDB push from a) corp store b) cust serv/tech support. Last option, XBM (1.800.801.1101)

how does an IRDB OTA have any relation to the voice codec?

The 3120 has the EFR code disabled by Nokia due to its ability to adjust voice codec. Most newer Series 40 phones have the EFR function disabled.

Has nothing to do with ENS, it was just Nokia's decision to remove the code.

EFR works wonders but keep in mind that you may have times where you will drop calls more often or be unable to call out if the towers are near max capacity.

Thanks for the replies. Service has really sucked around here since Katrina. Up here in N LA we only had a few 50mph wind gusts and no rain from the storm. Call quality and reliability has went downhill and VM went out the day the storm hit. Considering what the people along the coast are going through, I don't have too much to complain about. Hopefully once the high priority areas are taken care of we'll get our service back to normal.
