Can I make it so that the quicklaunch bar never changes? or stop certain files from getting on there?

You are talking about the MRU that stands for Most Recent Apps, so its supposed to change to show the most rescent used. However I do believe there is a way to stop it from doing that by eding the Windows Full or Windows Basic .xml files. Or you can download facade and use the app launcher it has. You can take out the other facade things in the facade.xml file if you want. Not only that but you can specify in the .xml file what apps you want to be on the homescreen and how many.

Do you know what exactly im supposed to edit?

Posted by: Omega2008

Well that depends on what you want to edit, I gave you several options on what you can do, you need to pick one and be more specific plz.

I downloaded Facade before and I didn't like it. So, I want to edit teh windows basic.xml

Posted by: Omega2008

Alright. I will look into...man I haven't done this in a while. I will post the xml code once I figure it out. Remember I am not sure if you can "freeze" the MRU so you may have to use Facade but you don't have to have the tasks and calender thing if you dont' want it.

comment out the xml code for startmru and under it put this:

<!-- Global/default settings for all instances of the Facade Plugin Control -->
<Facade ClearType="0" BlendColor="COLOR_HOMERULE" BlendPercent="70"
SelectionColor="COLOR_HOMERULE" SelectionBorderColor="COLOR_HOMERULE" ShowSelectionBorder="1"
font-size="normal" font-weight="normal"
padding-left="0" padding-right="0" padding-top="0" padding-bottom="0"
bgcolor="transparent" fgcolor="COLOR_HOMETEXT"
ShowCompleted="1" Wraparound="0" debug="0"
AlwaysShowToday="1" MinutesPastAppointment="0" ClickAction="Prompt" />

<!-- Facade Plugin Control: This is the launcher bar -->
<plugin clsid="{C49CEC80-D445-407C-AA72-C263EDBBAC96}" id="FacadeLauncher" type="Launcher">
<Buttons>
<Button type="Calendar" />
<Button type="Tasks" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Windows\tmail.exe" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Windows\iexplore.exe" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Storage\windows\Start Menu\activesync.lnk" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Storage\windows\Start Menu\PHM Registry Editor.lnk" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Windows\wmplayer.exe" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Windows\FileMgt.exe" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Windows\settings.exe" />
<Button type="Run" command="\Windows\calc.exe" Arguments=""/>
<Button type="Reset" />
</Buttons>
</plugin>

You need Facade installed. This will only show the app launcher and will not show the calender and tasks.

OK cool that worked. Got a question though... how do I make the icons as big as they were last time?

Posted by: Omega2008

You can't with the Facade version. Well Not that I know of, you can check out the Facade forum at www.sbsh.net to see if its possiable.

Ok, stupid question - where is this .XML file located? Can I get to it with ActiveSync or do I need to load a file manager on the phone?

TIA,
Richard

/Storage/Application Data/Home/
is where all homescreen xml's are (I think).

try RJShortcut at http://smartphone.peakin.com/

Ok, that's where one has to put one's own custom homescreen xmls (*.home.xml), the defaults are in /windows/ and you can't put your own there across a reboot. Ask me how I know

Thanks for the help!
Richard
