Kyocera 2325 / Bitpim connection workaround

I'm using a Kyocera cable and have a lot of trouble connecting to a Kyocera 2325 using Bitpim. I can occasionally connect - maybe 1 out of 10 tries. What I have found is that I can usually connect using Gagin - then if I close Gagin (without disconnecting the phone from the cable) and start Bitpim it will connect reliably.
Just in case anybody else is having a problem . . . .
