ok...just got this phone today..and as normal, motos manuals suck. so i was wondering how do i change my softkeys to something else, cause i heard u can customize that...do i go into settings? (still getting use to the whole cingular menu thing)

and how do i change my voicemail stuff? is it the same as it was from my old carrier?

To change the softkeys, you go Menu --> Options --> Home Screen, and then it'll give you the options to change them from there.

To set up voicemail, you have to call your voicemail and listen for the voice prompts.

is there anyway to change the volume of the phone with it closed?

You mean the speaker phone, or the ring?

The Speakerphone volume can be changed with the rocker switch (the one that's like 2 buttons in one, and up and a down).

The ring can be changed as well. Think of it as different profiles on the Nokia's. Hit the rocker switch, and you should hear a chirp noise. Push the button below that (watch the screen) and it'll cycle through the different modes you can put the phone into. Vibrate, Vibe & Ring, Silent, Loud, etc. Then after you've selected a mode you want, hit the rocker switch again to go back to the clock.

Not sure on the class of bluetooth, but it shouldn't matter. The phone will work with any of the bluetooth headsets out there very well, if that is what you plan to do.

So is there a number you can call to update/upgrade the phone's software? I just switched over from Verizon and if you dialed *228 you were able to upgrade and update everything. I tried on my 551 and it didn't work.......

Does Cingular have this (for the V551) or???

That is not available on GSM technology as the *228 option on CDMA is to update the PRL (preferred roaming lists) which is done automatically on GSM.

Upgrading Phone's software/firmware over the air is not available yet, but is something that still needs further developing and implementation to be fully successful. Only way to update a phones software/firmware at the moment is through a data cable and software.

i believe that the Bluetooth Implementation is 1.1, while the latest version of bluetooth is 1.2
