NBO Pricing on Equipment

Sorry to have to post this but im curious and I dont like not fully understanding they way other sales channels work - since im an COR orange employee with no prior knowledge of this FAN/NBO stuff.

Jane Customer has an existing line and is eligible for an upgrade. She has a fan
attached to her account that gives her 50% off the price of equipment. She is looking at a Nokia in my store that retails for $119.99 with No contract. Jane wants to buy it for me for $69.99 with a 1 year Contract. Jane wants to know

If she was to purchase a handset from NBO using her FAN account, does she have the option of buying the phone without a contract (No Commitment) using her FAN which will actually make the phone $10.00 cheaper then what I would sell it for with a 1 year contract?

Or is the 50% equipment discount only taken of the contract price. IE..
Retails for $119.99 - $50 (1yr) * 50% NBO Discount = $34.99.

Someone educate me.

The official rule is that any discount on equipment for fan accounts requires a two year contract extension.

So in her case she wouldn't get a better deal.

Having said that I don't know if nbo reps actually follow that rule.

It really would be easier for Jane to go the www.cingular.com/discounts . This site helps IRU Employees with Discounts on Equipment and Plans. Also if they place an order before 1:00 PM EST. They could have their phone by the next business day. The discounts are taken off the BMG Equipment Price Sheet. The BMG national price is basicly full price. So the user can either choose the current discount retail price, or 50% off the BMG National Price. If they user goes on the site, then they can possiably get the B2B 2 Year equipment price, which is usally better than retail and the 50% discount. She also may not be required to mail in a rebate.

IvwShane is correct that a 2year agreement is required for any discounts.

I highly suggest against the use of the cingular.com/discounts weblink. Theres nothing I hate more than another way for cingular to one up the agent/cor stores in taking business away. Now I realize it's more profitible for cingular to handle business themselves instead of paying a commission and the residual. However, If you're smart and really know how you get paid then you'll know that any of these "helpful" links and departments really just move to hurt the stores.

The end product is usually incorrect phones being shipped from online or business. And then theres the ever growing trend of telesales sending 4 phones when the customer requested only 1. Point being, keep the customers at the store level. Correct, we may be $10 cheaper but isn't it worth the $10 to have an actual representative who is familiar with the customer and the reasons they are looking for the particular model they chose?

Telesales BAD!!!
Cingular.com/discounts BAD!!!
NBO SO-SO!!!!
COR Stores ok!!!
Premier Agents Very Good!!!!!!!

I believe the policy is to reset your contract to start the day of the upgrade, whether it be a 1 year term or 2 year term, unless, of course, you're getting extra discounts on top of the corporate discount for signing a new contract.

Perhaps some business agreements are different.

Thanks guys for all your input! Is there a listing on the salesportal for websites of companies with special pricing?

Most companies with the deals are large enough to have corporate intranets which contain the information the employee is looking for.

If you have access to CSP there should be a link to eprofile manager and that'll give you all discounts available for the corporation.

At the same time... www.cingular.com/discounts isn't that customer friendly. You can only use it IF you have an email address with that company. Then that webpage for the store front display the FAN number on the bottom.
If you don't have email, you have to fax in a few items then call Cingular AND give them a FAN number which you get from....??? If you have just faxed in work IDs and payroll stubs, why can they not tell customer the web address or send customer an email at their personal address with the link?
