Setting up an IPSEC tunnel with Cingular itself is a very expensive (but much faster since the IPSEC encryption isn't applied until after it passes over the radio channel). |

just in case anyone wants to know.. you can do a live webcam using your datacard.. .. you use yahoo messenger .. they < the people seeing > will need this.. http://www.andy.w2s.co.uk/yahoo/ViewCam.shtml downside is that it only seems to work for IE and it needs do down load some stuff meaning ALOT of people at work cant see cause they cant download.. I wanted to use the webcamxp thingy cause it gives an instant linky and anyone can watch ,, so that is why i want incoming connections.. ![]() |

Depending on your cable provider, it may or may not be possible to do what you want. If your IP changes regularly, it will make it much harder, but still doable. Who do you get your internet from? |
but its neat and everyone that sees it comments on it..

Static Public IPs within a range - 28 block* $500 $84 per account then I will do it .. hell ive spent more then that on even more useless stuff then this and I REALLY like playing with my mobile live webcam.. edited to add I just saw this.. Public IPs - dynamically assigned No charge No charge wonder what the diffrence is... |

Anyway, the idea would be to set up a router (the WRT54G) at your home to accept the IPSec tunnel from the laptop, and get an IP on your local network. It won't be blindingly fast, but it should be good enough to push a low bitrate video stream across. You could then use a computer at home to serve the stream to the end users, if webcamXP supports it, so multiple users can connect. You could also use forward the required port on the WRT54G to the laptop's IP on your home network, but that would force the laptop to send multiple streams across the EDGE network if multiple people were connected at once. Very cool, though. ![]() BTW, has webcamXP improved? I last used it a couple of years ago and it pretty much blew chunks. ![]() |
