Help installing skins in i398, please!!!

Hello motorola experts! Yesterday I flashed my phone, updating it to i398! It's awesome, I'm recording like Quentin Tarantino himself!
But, unfortunatelly, i did not like very much the skins that came within it... So, I expent a lot of time tryin to install the XPBlue and Matrix Skins, but with both I had the same problem: the cell phone doesn't recognizes the skins, even after I copy all the correct files to "/a/" (and its subfolders) with either P2kCommander and P2KTools. I think that what's causing it is that my phone (I don't have any idea why's that) has three partitions: /a/, /b/ and /c/ .

The skins that came with Shoey's i398 MP are all in the /c/ folder... And the phone recognized the XPBlue skin when I copied it to /c/mobile/skins/XPBlue, but it did not work correctly, looking exactly like the MOTO Skin.

What's going on? How could I possibly install the skins so that my phone can be just perfect?

rename the skins you want to the existing skins. Ie. change the name xpblue.*** to techno.*** and then copy them back in.

is this the only way to do it? isn't there any way to install a new one without overwritting the existing ones?

and abut the /a/, /b/ and /c/ partitions... Is it normal to have so many different "partitions"? in which one should the skins be? every FAQ that I read tells that the skins have to be installed in "/a/", but I don't know if the FAQ reffers to e398, v398 or i398 (in which I'm interested).

anyway, thanks a lot for the help! and if you could answer my other questions I'd be very glad!

i398 firmware consist of 3 partitions now, a/ is mainly for system files, /c is considered for all your personal files such like ringtones/Pictures/Videos/skins... and /b is your T-flash card.

Installing skin to i398 is somewhat diffrent from normal E398/V398 firmware. Old P2Kcommander will not work anymore as this program doesn't regconised your new /c partitions. So you need to update P2Kcommander to the latest version that released by the man himself::: s5vi. You can get this updated version in Motomodders.net. Installing skin using the new P2Kcommander is just like the old way(if you know)... create a folder and rename it to the skin you wanted to upload. Skin wallpapers is now located at /c/mobile/pictures...and not anymore in /a
And you also need to open up .ski file of each skin you're installing to change their directory to the /c partition. Otherwise your skin will not loading their respective wallpaper everytime you select a skin in your phone.

Open it up using notepad or wordpad or something. Look near the bottom and you'll see something like:

Just change the /a/ to /c/

man, thanks a lot! you really saved my skin! I'll have to return the USB data cable to a friend of mine (mine's arriving any day now) in about a couple of hours, and if it wasn't for your hints, I would be stuck with the custom skin!

Actually you can open the .ski file using xvi32 and scroll down look for the wallpaper file name on the right window. Change the /a to /c to make the skin looking fot its wallpaper from /c partition.
Note: this applied only to i398 firmware as there are 3 partitions now...
