Well, I had NIS 2003 installed, and everything worked fine.... phone connected beautifully!

Yesterday I just upgraded to NIS2005 since my virus definitions were expired... and now the computer finds the cable on the USB port.... and when I put the phone in the cradle it sais connected on COM7, but if I dbl click on the phone icon to explore the phone files, it just stays at 'Not connected'

I am soooo peeved! I uninstalled everything phone related and reinstalled, and still nothing! It wont find the phone at all! I dont even care about syncing at this point, I just want to be able to send files to the phone, but it wont even find the darned thing!

Anyone else run into this with NIS2005? Should I uninstall the NIS2005 program and just say to H*ll with it, and let virii overrunn my computer? At least the phone will connect! lol.

Anyone know how to fix this?

If you have another USB port I would try plugging it in there. If all else fails try reinstalling the SE software.

done and done.... didn't work.

It does work if I turn off Norton Internet Security temporarily by selecting 'disable' in the NIS menu. Then put the phone in the sync station, then turn NIS back on. It seems once it finds the phone, then you can turn it back on. I have not figured out why NIS is blocking the phone though. Anyway I am happy that works.... so I can access my phone no probs now and sync with no trouble. I just have to disable the NIS program for a min..... odd but it works.

I had the same problem with Zone Alarm..just couldn't get it to work. NIS works for me though, just make sure you allow all the junk SE installs.

I never liked Nortons products when I realized how much of my system resources it was hogging up. I have a hardware firewall now which makes it easier and the I use NOD32 for my antivirus...I'd say its a lot better than what Symantec and McAfee have offered me in the past when I used them.

I prefer AVG Anti-Virus...www.grisoft.com. It doesn't hog up resources and updates are very frequent.

I used to have AVG, but Norton Internet Security is much more than just an antivirus program. I use all the anti spam stuff too.... and ad blocking. I just like it because its an all in one program. I dont find it uses too much system resources - I upgraded my system alot when I got Everquest II (no choice) lol....

I just dont know why NIS would lock out my P910 lol. Solution is just to disable it for now when i want to connect the phone.
