other then the typical help file in BitPim, does anyone have any suggestions why BitPim doesnt recognize my VX8100? the computer sees it fine, and even shows up as a com port in BitPim, but it says it can not find my phone. any suggestions? Thanks

Ashes

Until Bitpim is updated to handle the 8100 natively, the File System tab is the only really functional portion of the program when used with the 8100.

Development release 0.7.35 handles the 8100 fine. I've used it for wallpapers, ringers and phonebook transfers.

Sorry, I did not realize that 0.7.35 had come out. I should have stated that I was using 0.7.34... Thanks for the news about the update.

I had this problem too. Do the following:

1) Menu
2) Type 0, then 0000000
3) Go to option 4 (data)
4) Go to option 2 (PortMap Diag)
5) Make sure UART1 is selected, and go back to data
6) Go to option 1 (PortMap Data) and choose UART1 again.
7) Close that and try Bitpim again

If that doesn't work it's a driver issue. I tried all sorts of drivers until I finally found one that worked. Good luck.

Is it still possible to connect using bluetooth? I don't have a cable and was using BT to connect before. When I use your method, it selects UART1 instead of Bluetooth. Thanks for the info.

Not sure. I've always used the cable.

Glad it worked for you Ashes.

i have vx8100 and try running bitpim version 0.7.35, can not get bit pim to recogonize phone. tried sending wallpapers and ringers no luck. I wonder if this new firmware update from verizon will help those with bitpim problems?

Posted by: skyjunky

What kind of connection are you using (cable or Bluetooth)
Try version 0.7.36 it has some fixes for the 8100.
Post the log from bitpim when you run autodetect maybe there is something that indicates the problem in them, also check that the PC connection on your phone is set correctly (this is option 9 under the settings and tools menu)

skyjunky, tks for reply, using a vx7000 USB cable, tried loading version 0.7.36 no help I can send the log malfunctions to you where it tries to connect and detect phone if you think that would help. Are you running new firmware version from VERizon my store says takes 3 hrs to load phone with V04.

Posted by: skyjunky

Yes I'm using v4, i used v1 before and it did not make any different to the connection. Can you post the logs, you can PM me if you want.

Thanks to all the posts as to how to get my LG VX8100 connected to Bitpim. When everything downloaded I realized a couple things were missing. No ringtones and no tab for video. All the pictures I took downloaded just fine. Is it possible to download the videos I've recorded? Also, I've never added any of my own ringtones. Is that why none were downloaded? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Enable the File System tab, then browse to the following directory:

\Brew\16452\mf\

from there you can copy the file.

If you have a miniSD card and PC card reader, you can copy the file to the card within the phone (or have the phone save the file there initially) and then to the PC.
