My sons friends keep text messaging him while he is at school around 30-40 times a day... Anyway to block this? Thanks

Have him send B <otherpersonsnumber> to 8888 .
Has to be a space between the B and the other number.

I think with the online screens now it would be helpful if Alltel wrote a screen where I could enter a block list, and also a block time where the unit would receive no messages... our route those messages to a queue where they display online (for free) instead of being routed to the phone. Or just route them straight to the trash )

Keep in mind from from this Alltel screen one could enter any random number as the "callback number" so a block cannot always be effective. I just sent one from 123-123-1234.... came thru my phone as being sent from 9999 (?).

Also, what about someone who is emailing the phone 5555555555@message.alltel.com? Does block work against email addresses too?

Also, how do you unblock? I know it comes down to some personal responsibility here yet if you give anyone your alltel number... especially with kids... they can go crazy. Parents beware and signing up for Alltel might mean making your kid pay for the unlimited text messaging feature... so parents need to stay involved and keep a close watchful eye

Another option that will stop unwanted text messages (and the unwanted charges that go along with them) is to have text messaging removed entirely from your service. That'll handle all the conditions you asked about. Unfortunately, you will also not receive desired text messages either.

I kept asking if that was available when I was there (twice) in the last 2 weeks and they kept saying they can't for "safety" purposes or something like that.

yeah you can block email addresses. Go to http://message.alltel.net and log in, then go to message blcoking and enter specific email addresses or you can just choose for the phone to be able to recieve messages from email and web messages

to unblock a number from being able to text you, instead of b <10-digit mobile> to 8888, use u <10-digit mobile> to 8888.

Would be nice (and fairly feasible it would seem) if you could disable all text messages /except/ from certain people/numbers. That would get rid of all the unwanted ones, while not losing any functionality.

Anyone else have the problem of getting wrong number texts? We have one phone here that gets a bunch of totally random messages, from about 20 different people. That block trick is going to come in handy.
