How to get rid of RealPlayer

My Verizon Treo 650 came with RealPlayer pre-installed. I have Lightwav, Freedom, and Pocket Tunes that I use. I tried to delete RealPlayer, but there is nothing there to delete. It's a resouce hog, I don't use it, and I'm a little miffed that it would be forced upon me, so to speak. Real Player must have a really sweet deal with Palm to get that sucker embeded that good.

I think you need to do a CustomROM to remove Real Player and other things like it (quick tour,welcome,versamail..etc)

How do you do that? I would like to remove Quicktour...Also is there anyway to get those back after you delete them? like something on the Palm CD that came with it?

There's a guy on the treocentral.com boards that has created some custom ROMs for the Treo 650. His/her name is shadowmite. Surf on over there and do some searching. I believe he/she has a website too.

Pre-installed apps on Treo like RealPlayer are in ROM and do not contribute to resource hogging. Only apps installed into RAM will take up resources. I use Zlauncher and just make the darn icon hidden. It's like it is not even there.

I went to Shadowmiite's website (www.shadowmite.com) and it looks like they've pulled the custom ROMs from the site due to a complaint from a Palm employee (something to do with harm towards the Treos)

They have pulled them, but I believe he had instructions on how to do it yourself.

I don't think I'm daring enough to do a DIY on my ROM.. And as shadowrtype says, the only thing it does is to add icons, and removing them doesn't affect the amount of RAM available.
