Help Needed! Wallpaper problem with CDM 8940

How to make those pictures I transfered from my pc to fill up the whole screen? Is it the resolution problem that I can't do it? I've tried 179x205, 176x220, 960x1280 and some other sizes, but none would work. They only occupy little center space. But when I transfer one picture (which I took using the phone with 960x1280) back to the wallpaper folder, it works perfect.
Any thoughts about this? What should I do to my other pictures to make this work?
Any inputs are appreciated.

128x132 ... 256x264 ... 384x396 ...

those are the only sizes so far that I've gotten to fill the screen... but with the 2 higher formats, they have to be PNG format for the phone to shrink them down...

So far I've tried many sizes and formats, but the phone only recognize JPG, GIF, and PNG formats.
Only PNG can fill up the whole screen with 179x205 or a little bigger size, but too big is not allowed.
GIF can fill the whole width, but not the whole height -- it will be shrunk if the height is over 152, so the size for GIF need to be 179x152.
I've only successfully managed one JPG to fill whole screen with 179x204, other than that, all other sizes were shrunk to occupy little center space, kind of weird.
Anyhow, I finnaly can get the wallpaper to fill the whole screen.

Now anyone recommend a good picture edit/resize/compress program that won't lose the quality while compress the pic to small size?

I have been trying to transfer pics using the image relay feature of freeringtones.net. When I open up the message, the pic displays perfectly. I save it, then go to images and try to set as wallpaper. All I get is a black screen. The pic wont even display.

i have the 8940.

any suggestions?

I believe it's not free to receive pic message unless you have plan. My experimence tells me that you can try to save the pic several times, and sometimes it will work. If the pic size is too big, it probably won't work.

you can just email pictures to yourself using your normal email. just send it through YOURNUMBER@vzwpix.com. the size of the wallpaper that works on the phone is 179x205 and under 20kb.
