I bought a sprint treo 650 and was thinking ooh a $500 dollar phone this is gonna be worth it...i thought wrong I can't wait for our agreement to go up cause this is my 6th phone from them and there service is horrible... but back to the subject I noticed when I got my treo from a sprint store that they didn't offer me any colors (so I got blue) and when I got home I noticed that the p key was jammed the phone keeps restarting the ringtones sound horrible and that overall this phone is not worth $500 they don't give you any free trials to software for purchasing they're 2nd most expensive phone and that overall I might pay $100 for it I don't find it repliable the keys are too small my email account is really limited I can't get pictures displayed and that I don't know how to look at my attachment only download them....looks like I am stuck with this phone so if you guys know of any other treo 650 freeware sites besides mytreo.net downloads.com treobits.com getjar.com please post it... I'm desperatly bored by my treo and don't want to be

Wow everything you said sounds like it came from someone who never used the phone...The P key, well it may just be a defect, or the sales person could have pushed it down under the faceplate...go get another one. Im sorry your kiddie mind was disapointed when you didnt get to pick out a colour for your new phone, but it is aimed at serious business people or serious students. Trials of software? There are literally millions of developers for Palm OS, do a small google search and you'd know that...its not their job to give you 3rd party software. How is your email account limited? I can do everything with mine and Versamail. You pretty much have to be an idiot to not be able to veiw attachmnents...after you download the email its at the bottom of the page....To get pictures displayed from where? An email? Your camera? try the MEDIA app. By the way, the speaker on the back of the phone is not meant to replace your stereo system, it DOES sound good for what its for...

Heh Ill take it off your hands for $100.

After my treo 600's LCD broken few weeks ago, i was gonna get a Treo 650, seems to be the best palm pda+phone around. But hold on, there's still Microsot, then i finally decided to get a eten M500 & WIZARD for gf and me.

i used to like palm alot, even until now while i'm still waiting for my M500 and Wizard, i'm with my TE2. Before that i owned a treo 180, 270 then the 600, even tried my friend's Xplore. Pocket pc already having EDGE, wifi, Bluetooth 2.0, mega camera, VGA......... and i just can't see any effort from palm, and the 650's price tag..... just not worth it.

The only reason that my gf wanna keep her treo 600 is because i skinned her 600 that we couldn't find anyone in Australia to do it on her new Wizard....

I'm sorry you had those problems with your Treo, but like the other guy said it's geared towards business people, not kids. I love my Treo 650 and feel there's nothing else like it on the market. Yeah, it resets from time to time, but I live with it because it's advantages far outweigh its disadvantages.

I love my Treo 650, and I don't understand why you would say that there were no softwares that came with the Treo. Doesn't it come with the Dataviz's Doc2Go? And there are a lot of great freeware for the Palm OS. I left the Treo because it doesn't have EV-DO. Once that is a feature, I'll switch back to the Treo.

Damn I do search on this post and there is no period, not even at the end of the paragraph. You need to lay off the coffee man.

Well, each person's preferences are different. The Treo is a great device to those who r familiar with Palm, and who wanted a swiss army knife-like device. No device is ever perfect. There are some things that the Treo are good at, but there are other things that could be better.

I've not had hardware issues on my 650 so I consider myself lucky, esp after reading stories on the forum.

IMHO I think everyone should have a chance to play with their devices before they pay for one. Its hard enough trying to get a device that you really want for the functions, and its worse if you can't play with it for at least a week. Issues doesn't coee up right away sometimes, and to get a feel of the devices takes time.

I hope this helps..

I am a new Treo owner and I must say, I had my reservations after reading posts about resets etc. I'm completely new to using a PDA, and was kind of scared of using "Palm" since I was not familiar with it.

The menu functions are very easy to navigate, I have been using it for a little over a week now, and about the only thing I had trouble figuring out was disonnecting from data. I figured that out by lurking forums. I think I just looked at my manual to figure out how to uninstall an app.

Anyway, I must say this thing is amazing, as a phone it gets better reception than my V551 with Cingular had, so that a plus in my book right away. The phone menu is also easy to navigate, ringers are very loud, and there are many regular type ringers.

The keys, although small, are very easy to navigate, even more so than I thought.

No resets for any reason, althouh I have not installed many apps, games, etc.

This thing is more than I could have hoped for. Money well spent. We'll see if I say that in the next month or so, but for now I am very satisfied with my purchase, and would easily recommend it for anyone thinking about it.

also i am a serious student i am in high school and i use it as a planner. I'm not saying the treo 650 is horrible i am just saying that it is very expensive and i dont think that it is a worth $500. There are alot of things i was expecting that i didnt get. Example animated wallpapers, able to download bigger files then 2mb using blazer browser, being able to use a ringtone bigger then 68kb (thats really sad), I also dont understand why they didnt put a headphone jack on the phone its not that hard i have tons of music on my treo and i dont want to listen to it through the headset and i cant find the converter for it and i dont shop off the internet. I've lookied in about 10 stores and none of them have even heard of it i have even gone into sprint stores too. And come on you can at least put a flash on the camera.and maybe have it come with pre installed screensavers. I'm not totally trashing it, it is a really cool phone but delay the date it comes out on to give it these extra sometimes basic features on other phones.

Posted by: iDean

Its funny how you all the stuff you mention is kiddie stuff...animated screensavers...who needs em? It doesnt have a 3.5mm headset jack becasue its a PHONE. PHONES use 2.5mm jacks...playing MP3s is a secondary feature. Flash on the camera, another kiddie request...

By the way witha tiny search the Treo can play 10MB+ MP3 ringtones.

I think everyone can agree you should have a different phone, its not for you. You're better off with a Zire and a Samsung E316 taped to its back.

Posted by: ian100290

why do you keep saying kiddie about everything i say it's just something i was expecting so go and do your "adult" things somewhere else no offence but your oppinion isnt helping at all.

Posted by: iDean

I say kiddie, becasue you're comlaining a phone that was made for someone about 15 years older than you, doesnt have "animated wallpapers" ...You're discouraging others with these empty complaints.

Posted by: Mr. Rogers

Animated wallpapers? why? how is that going to help someone make money? The Treo's first function is to be a business tool. You can manage your appointments, do online trading/banking, make phone calls, stay on top of your emails, etc... It isn't designed to impress people with crazy ringtones, looks, animated wallpapers, and so on. My Black V3 gets WAY more attention then my more expensive treo.

I'm only 21, still a student. My first business is opening next week, and i definitely am not using my treo to it's full potential. But i still love the thing. I think you are after a different kind of device. Sell your treo.

Posted by: KJRcrew

ill trade u my 860 for the treo....

Posted by: mattr2

If you want to part with the Treo, let me know what youw ant to sell it for. I am looking for a treo 650.

Do you want to sell it?

Posted by: KJRcrew

man i got first dibbs on his toy phone...lol

I agree that some of the options that people want are "kiddie", but I think that for $500 it could have more useful apps included. I drive for a living, and I enjoy the the great reception. Probably better than any mobile phone I've had. Although, it would have been nice to have a better voice dial app, and a decent ringtone app. Also an app like zlauncher or launcherx should have been included for the price. And finally the phone shares alot of the same glitches as the 600, and they should have been taken care of with the 650. Of course, I still love the phone, and I'll probably spend another $500 when they come out with an upgrade. As for trial software, go to www.handango.com every app has a trial for palm and others.

Posted by: whatever7

I agree the phone camera feature is quite "kiddie". Even the best phone camera (say the Sony S710) make pretty sh*ty pictures. It's shi*ty in the sense that you can't use it for anything except maybe email. None of them is good enough for online photo album. This is limited by the size of the lense so I am not surprised.

Hoever, assigning different mp3 ringtone to specific callers is very useful in the real world. I wish Treo support it.

Posted by: ian100290

Thank you i was not saying it was the worst phone in the world all that I was trying to say is that there was a few things that i just expected it would have because my older phones did and when i found out this one didnt I was supprised. Yesterday I ran hotsync and istalled like 10 programs and I know it is a great phone with alot of capabilities. It's just some of the glitches I still havent gotten used to like it restarting. At first it made me mad and was waisting my time but now I am finding out it's pattern and avoiding trying to cause it restart. iDean i know where you are coming from and you are probably right it isnt the right phone for me this is more for buisness and I need one that is more for games and just a tad smaller you have to admit it is quite big. I wasnt trying to trash the phone but tell you some of the things that supprised me that it didnt have.

[QUOTE=iDean]Its funny how you all the stuff you mention is kiddie stuff...animated screensavers...who needs em?

Hey, easy! I'm almost 30 and I already miss my blinking pumpkin my previous "non-smart" phones would have had this time of year. I would much rather have an animated screensaver than the screen flashing off so quickly.

It doesnt have a 3.5mm headset jack becasue its a PHONE. PHONES use 2.5mm jacks...playing MP3s is a secondary feature. Flash on the camera, another kiddie request...

The 2.5 mm Treo Ear Buds are the most uncomfortable, cheap pieces of crap I've ever used.

Posted by: iDean

What? there is not Treo earbuds... how can the fact that it has a 2.5mm audio jack be uncomfotable, cheap or crap?

Im not sure what your talking about.

Ummm...these. They are Palm branded.....and not only do they sound like crap, and they're uncomfortable, I've also heard people say the Palm branded 2.5mm adaptors haven't worked too snug either. They come loose.

I got the adapter from treokitz, along with a nice cover and screen protector. Not bad for $50.. The Palm branded adapters worked for me, even when I was using the SE P910A and I never had a complaint from the other side.

Posted by: sk33

he says kiddie because most treo users (like me) probably never "got bored" with their phones/organizers since they were purchased for functionality, and not entertainment.

edit: blah comment made after reading first page.. didn't notice second page existed
