What really bugs me is that Moto is removing EDGE from their high-end lineup. I think that is retarded, unless they jump on the 3G bandwagon at the end of the year.

I see it says 4 quarter of 2005, so probably 1Q of 06. Its really sexy lookin, comes with a bronze keypad instead of silver, and it comes in black, its not as wide as a credit card, and thinner than a razr.... plus memory card slot.... I dont care about the features, i would have it to place calls only.

Yes, as someone pointed out above, no edge, but neither did the razr have edge.

It still looks hot and I probably with buy one. I really do not find edge to be that much faster than GPRS. Anyway I would barely be using the data features that are own the phone anyway. I have plenty of smartphones that can do that.

I agree. with you man! its just so tasty. thinner than razr is good. plus it will be 10 grams lighter than the razr..

If Moto continues this trend the next phone they should make should be called the PAPR for Paper.... it will be paper thin

That might be kinda hard to use don't you think, the PAPR? The only moto phone that has been released that I do not really like is the ROKR E1. I think that they should have put in a better phone shell or create something new for this concept. It also is so expensive, even at my cost, its almost $400 and I am a dealer. Forget it. I will take an e398, flash it, and still have money left over for something else.

I mean it wouldnt be paper thin, but i will get a SLVR, and then ill wait cause i know they can get it under 10mm thinness. 11 mm isnt bad though not at all.

I heard this is supposed to also have the screen3 technology. That's an added bonus. I too like this phone and will probably buy it. At first I was disappointed with the low camera resolution, but hell, even the megapixel models don't have autofocus which is needed for some nice pics.

It's a cool phone! My friend let me see his beta version on Wednesday. It's really similar in size to the iPod nano for comparison. Maybe some of the flip phone fans will reconsider...

I much prefer clamshell phones to candybar ones, but this one looks like one that might change my mind. I still can't justify $400 for a phone, so I'll probably be the one that buys one after the whole world does...and the price is down to the $200-250 mark.

Looks kinda fragile though...

According to my friend who tests them it's not out of the question. He specifically mentioned the one he showed me was a 'non-iTunes' version of the SLVR(?)

how do u protect this phone that my question i could see the screen getting scratched. also when i had the 6230 the keys would get pushed when in my purse in a case what kind of case do u have to have it in? after the 6230 i like flip phones even better they just seem more protected.

well once its released about 30 cases will be made for it from all different manufacturers. so it cannot be scratched up.

Also, you can set your phones to Auto Lock when not in use... this way on bar phones when u have it in your pocket you cannot accidentally call someone or press keys until you enter the unlock code or press menu+ star or something like that

Also if there is no auto lock their is always a lock on your phone... so everytime you drop it in your purse or pocket make a shortcut to the lock feature.... should be easy enough like menu star to lock....

OK something im rather anal about, is how the keypads are lit, i love the way my V3 keypad is backlit (looks a constant blue, not lit by a few LEDs). But the SLVR seems to have reverted to using a few blue LEDs, which kinda makes it look a bit cheap!
