Treo 300 Just Stopped HotSyncing?!?!

I have successfully hotsynced my Treo 300 to my pc for a year now, never any problems. I hotsynced a ton of new, freeware to my Treo last night and tonight I click the HotSync button on the Treo and nothing happens. PC running WnXP.
Normally, I click the HotSync button, quick install window pops up and installs whatever I have loaded in the window. Now when I click the HotSync button, I get two quick tones from my pc and that's it. I plug the usb cable into another usb port and windows detects it and wants to install new hardware. I think one of the freebie programs I installed might have corrupted the drivers in the Treo, I don't know. I'd like to reinstall the current Palm OS on there but that's impossible without the HotSync option. Any ideas?

Hello JBRONCFAN,
This is Kevin from Palm. I don't know if you found a way to a solution, but a Hard Reset would bring the device back to factory state so that you can start over fresh. You'd then want to rename your backup folder to backupold before performing your first hotsync, otherwise all those third-party apps will be immediately reinstalled and you'll likely experience the same issue again. The Palm Knowledge Libarary article "Diagnosing problems caused by third party applications" can walk you through the process.
Sincerely
Kevin
