Hey guys. Ive been all over these forums searching for software to use with my TELUS Audiovox 8900. From what i read, there is a snowballs chance in hell to get a usb cable to communicate with this phone, but i have read a few posts that have been sucessfull.. It would be really nice to send games and pictures to the phone, but by now i am pretty much giving up hope on that. All id like to do is sync the PHONEBOOK so that i can type in my numbers and names on the computer and transfer them through the phone.. I have tried may programs. Future dial, Bit pim, Brewsky, Pc sync, and a few more. None of them have even come close to connecting, and a few of them ask for a COM PORT. Well a USB does not use a COM PORT correct? If anyone has any suggestions or tips for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot guys, great forum. -Trevor Armstrong

I guess a snowball has a pretty good chance in hell then...

Go here:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=705666

But download http://www.curitel.com/UploadDATA/m.../PC_usb4_20.zip instead of the link shown. (This is for the TX-95C/8900)

Install that, reboot, attatch the cable to the phone, plug it into the PC, and you should be able to sync the phone book.

After you do that, then reinstall BitPim and/or QPST, and you can change pictures too.

A couple of clarifications....

YES, the phone uses a com port.
YES, you have to choose the com port the phone is connected to, when in BitPim. (QPST should auotdetect)

You also need the SPC of the phone to connect with QPST, but you can get the SPC code off the phone via BitPim, so you'll need bitPim first, if you don't know your number. (Post the number if you find out)

Thank you very much for the reply, managed to get it workin. Turned out that i was using com port 4 the whole time which SHOULD be fine, but my computer didnt like it i guess. Went to Device manager and switched the USB cable to COM 2 and pretty much all the programs that DIDNT work DO work now. Next question... I am using BREWSKY to transfer RING TONES to my phone. I am aware that you can do it with others but they dont write the download_snd.txt file which is needed for the phone to recognize the tones. Brewsky seems to transfer the files and re-write the download_snd.txt file like it should, but when the phone is rebooted, and i go into Sounds, then RingTones, i get this UNBELEIVABLE loud, lound squeel of a ring!!! it shows a few of the files, but they have no names. After you exit the RING tone menu, the LOUD ring continues to play on and off untill you pull the battery from the phone... If i delete the download_snd.txt and all the ring tones and go to browse, the phone just locks up there, but without that loud squeel. Anyone heard of this before? Any help would be appreciated, maybee i am doing something wronge. THanks guys -Trevor Armstrong

Hey Shock! I'll try helping you out; after hours of headaches, I finally got mp3's working on my Telus Audiovox 8900 friday night!

When I tried to mess around with the download_snd file and add a ringtone through BITPIM, I also got a veryyy loud shrill ring when I tried to access the downloaded ringtones section on my phone, and it wouldn't stop until I turned my phone off.
I'm not too sure about your situation, but this is what I did, to get ringtones working.

Follow instructions on this site, up to #8: http://www.thephonemall.net/communi...read.php?t=1167

Exit QPST.
Open Brewsky; connect with COMS #(whatever number you located for the COM port; mine is 4) + select Telus from the dropdown menu.

Put the mp3 ringtone you want in the Brewsky ringtones folder.

Your should be able to see the ringtones your phone currently has on the right side of the window (I read that you should have at least 1 ringtone on your phone already to get it working; just download the free trial ringtone from Telus).
On the left side, should be the mp3 files you put in your Brewsky ringtones folder.
Select whatever mp3 ringtone you want ->add-> now the file shoudl be on the right side of the window ->upload

After the upload, it'll ask you to reboot your phone.
That's it; should appear in your ringtone downloads section. I didn't have to mess around with the download_snd file or anything.

Hope I was able to help

There doenst really seem to be anything differnet in your suggesttion that i havnt done, still get that crazy ringing when i enter the ringtone menu! hmm... What was it exactly that broght your phone from making that sound to being able to listen to the ringtones? also, where is the trial ringtone from tellus, i only see ones you can buy on on the rintone website(via my phone) again, thanks for the help man!!!

Ok, I know the problem now; I completely forgot about this step, but remembered now, since I had to re-format my computer yesterday, and had to re-install all my programs; so I remember what you have to do differently! (Because I uploaded ringtones today and got that shrill ring again, and was like WTF!!)

Go to your brewsky folder -> data folder ->there will be a file called 'data'
Open it up; Under the [telus] section, delete the first two zeros where it says 'tone', and save the changes to the document.

Try to upload those ringtones through Brewsky again; should work this time!

As for trial ringtones - do more - sounds - get new; and on the page, there'll be a free section

Thank you so much man, how did you know to delete the two 0's in that file!? heh, worked fine for me... Was trying some true tones the other day uploading them, then the phone froze. Rebooted the phone and the other tones were still there, but not the one i just uploaded. FOr some reason it was like 700KB and now its not visible on my phone, and it taking up ALL the space!!! i try BITPIM and QPST both of them give me errors when trying to access the UR/SN/RNG directory. Tryed to delete the directory and re-ad it to delete the incomplete/corupt file and it wouldnt let me. Any tips? Cant seem to find a HARD reset for this phone to turn everything back to normal.. ANyone? help would be appreciated. thanks guys!
