NEway to IM or text without monthly fees?

I have Sprint with Unlimited Vision for $15. I know that's good compared to other carriers and their data fees.

The problem is, I don't text that much, but would rather not spend the $5 a month for the texting plan.

Do I have any other options, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, etc. that I can use without inccurring a monthly fee, but instead having it be billed as part of my data?

I know about the AIM app Toccer for Treo, but to my understanding, you must have an AIM account.

Thanks in advance

Uh, AIM accounts are free.

Do you just use Yahoo and MSN and not AOL?

Are there any other programs to send sms through the internet? I'm worried about Toccer's stability. I have bad experiences of the 650 rebooting all the time.

Hmm, didn't know AIM accounts were free, thought you had to be an AOL member for AIM.

No, you can sign up easily. Depending on what software you use on your Palm, you could sign up right there and then.

Another quick question in regards to this. I know there is an annual fee for Verichat, but would I incur an sms fee through my carrier as well if I'm using it to chat?

No. It just uses data.

Thanks much, I'll probably go this route!
