try the 3gp convertor, i'm not sure if it's the one you are after, some of my friends uses it for the 902/903 for full screen video.

you can also try boilsoft asf converter

3gp converter is ok for small clips but if you want good quality (for instance to convert a dvd movie, then you should use some better software. 3gp gets sound jumps in asf mode (sd - fullscreen) and other bugs, plus bad image quality... it's fast and simple though...
First you should read this thread at http://mobile-review.com/forum2/sho...?t=31168&page=3 and this guide: http://www.debbybrown.f2s.com/sdguide/ .
I've been testing all this sotfware for a while now and found out that the results are quite good. Still, with the system they suggest, you have to use several small programs combined to do the conversion, and so I went searching for something more simple and, for now, it came to 2 programs. The first (dvd2avi2svcd2... converter) which converts from dvd to avi (mpeg2) and the second one (moviestage) to convert to SD asf, which is the one our phones use.

1st one you can get here: www.dvd-converter.net/download.htm
(you'll need serial no to make it work fully - pm if you can't find it)
2nd one you can get here: http://www.knives-swords.com/phone/.../MovieStage.zip

The first time it looks harder then it is. After prparing the software on the 1st time, you can do it in 2 steps or so...
You really should take a look at those threads I earlier mentioned, so you know what you're doing in order to adjust it the better possible - it's all on a quite experimental stage yet...

thanks i'll try that, not that i have any space left on my memory card for a film!!!

but what i'm looking for is a convertor that works the other way, ASF to MPEG/WMV, because at the moment you need a sharp codec to play the videos on a PC and when i email the videos to friends i don't want them to have to download the codec(also they can't be edited).

any suggestions from people who have successfully converted sharp 902 videos would be much appreiciated.

Hi, I actually did it with a fine result and surprisingly did so with the windows movie maker!... That's right... I guess it uses the sharp codec to reverse it back to wmv. As easy as that and you can edit the film, ad effects and all.
Worked for me...

Caccum,

Thanks for the info above. Ive been wondering how I can get a whole dvd film onto the 903sh. Ive just got 2 questions if you can help:

1. If I follow those steps above, can I fit a whole dvd movie (average size) onto a 1gig card?

2. In the Video Camera settigs on the 903sh, you can choose the various formats in this order - QVGA(3gp), QVGA(asf), Large(qcif), Small(subqcif). Looking at the order, im just wondering, is the 3gp supposd to be a better quality video format and therefore a better option for the dvd movie? (i know you referred to this above, but i just wanted to check).

thanks.

~4 MB per minute. ~300 MB for 750 MB of DVD Movie ripped.

not neccessarily, asf is the better IMO. i havent tried 3gp movies yet but looking at videos recorded by asf on the 902 and 3gp on the 903, i thought the 902 looked smoother with less distortion. someone can prove me wrong...

thanks totaltoanage, exactly what i needed to know.
ill give it a try.....

Hi, Total and Burton, I don't have a 903, mine is the 902, but according to my experience here, the asf as the best image, but sound is mono (don't ask me why), while in 3gp you can't do full screen (at least until they launch a decent firmware), you'll have a better real stereo sound.
Still, I'm not sure how it is with the 903.
Regarding compressions and all, I've converted a movie with 1hour 51mins to an asf file with 344Mb. Its quality is alright, although sound is mono. But it has no jumps at all sound is loud and clear, and it plays in fullscreen!... You can actually read the subtitles and all...

3gp is just a container for video/audio streams so video quality should be the same as in asf (SD Video) if recorded in QVGA res.
Difference is in audio quality: in SD Video you have to use g726 audio codec which is 2x better than amr (used in normal 176x144 3gp recorded videos) but still it`s much worse than mpeg 4 audio (aac) which You can use for audio streams in 3gp.
