Special SIM?

Currently using a SE T637 and hate it. I'm a grandfathered in AT&T customer. Recently bought an unlocked Cingular Treo 650 and my SIM from the T637 doesn't work. The Treo manual says that it doesn't accept older 5 volt style SIM cards but only newer 3 volt. Is that my problem or is it because it was an AT&T phone (even though my bill and the service provider on the screen says that in fact my service is Cingular?). Customer Care said it was because I'm an AT&T customer and I'd have to "migrate" to a new Cingular account and consequently a new 2 year agreement. Any truth? Please advise if there may be another way around this.

Yip. As what I heard, if you put an AT&T SIM card into a Cingular phone or put a Cingular SIM card to an AT&T phone, it won't work. You can try to have your phone SIM unlocked to solve this problem though.

Maybe go down to your local (former) AT&T corporate stores and ask them if they still have some spare AT&T SIM's in stock that you can try out?

If the phone is unlocked then I don't see why it wouldn't work.
