hey guys, ive been mostly a motorola user, and am gonna get my s710a tomorow (great upgrade from moto v300), and was curious about what kind of modding,software, etc. can be done to this phone, and where i could get info, programs, etc. Thanks alot

this is a SE not a moto or nokia, you cannot hack it

Plus, S710 is an awesome phone compared to most phones out in the market currently.

Actually, you can do some mods, but it requires an expensive program. You can change languages, you can change SMS tones, you can even change 1 or 2 of the desktop icons and what they point to. Nothing like the motos and noks, but you don't need to do as much - like the others said.

When I had a v300 the only things I wanted to mod was - delete all clipart crap, add a custom ringtone, increase the volume (I have bad hearing) and remove all rogers branding. Also, on the v300 there was a certain way to set your background image as the entire actual screen as opposed to a cropped box in the middle. Anyway of doing this with images/backgrounds/wallpapers/videos for the s710a?

Yeah - you can do most of that stuff. You need some tools though.

Changing images can be done with software downloadable from SonyEricsson - ImageEditor, Theme Creator. Go to the Fun & Downloads section.

Custom ringtones are easy - it takes midi and mp3. Just upload them and then use the menu of the phone to set as ringtone.

As far as deleting "locked" files, you will need to flash it to unbranded firmware. For that you need unlocking/flashng tools. Check out THIS LINK
