Hey there,

I just got a sony laptop with bluetooth built in. Can I use the 7100T as a modem for the computer via bluetooth? I am currently trying the Cingular EDGE network for internet access, but for 80 bucks a month, its not worth it.

Can anyone help?
Feel free to contact me directly at kevinw23@aol.com

thanks ,

Kevin

No, you cannot use your 7100T or any Bluetooth enabled BlackBerry as a wireless modem. You can, however, use it as a GPRS modem via the USB cable. If you do a search here on HOFO you will find instructions.

Blackberries tethered to laptops (GPRS) are very slow: Maximum 14.4kpbs up, and 30-50kbps down. If you must use a GSM-based carrier, and if EDGE is supported in your area, get an EDGE capable phone or PCMCIA card.

As it appears you're also a VZW subscriber, I would recommend VCAST...
